I had the same thing happen to ours, what i did is cut the bolts off flush with the hub and put lock washers on the bolts. then i also ground down the bearing carrier bolt heads works fine.
What are you racing this weekend?? They have grass drags for Mini's? Wonder if there are any in Michigan??Mac-Daddy said:I bought a quick change hub for a 06 mini rev. I folloed instructions on the dissassembly of the sled and when I installed the hub/sprocket combo on the drive axle the screws that hold the sprocket on the hub would rub on the nuts for the carrier bearing.
Has anyone else had this problem???
I talked with a friend that works at a dealer and he said they have had some problems with fitting in the past on the Mini Rev units.
Sportech did ask to get the item back, I sent it to them last week. We have a couple of races in Wausa WI this weekend and I would like to get it back together for the kids to run. Just waiting for them to send it back.

My son would love to race his sled but I have never came accross drags for the Minis. What did pulling up the limits up do to the travel?Mac-Daddy said:I took the drive axle out of the mini and reversed the bolts and nuts on the carrier bearing. Now the rounded side is out and the nuts are near the drivers. Adding the wheel kit to the rear suspension and removing the Hy-fax really frees up the rear. We also pulled the limit straps up two inches on the front and rear. Looks like the 800 Pro Stock now.
The races in WI are for NSRA, we run the mini's at intermission and everyone gets a trophy lots ofon the kids faces. Gotta make sure the next bunch of racers is ready to go.![]()

Funny my son wants to be a 'snowmobile racer' when he gets bigger too. He is 6. I put the wheel kit on and it seemed to lift the track off the 'hyfax' just a hair. I would lover to get a deeper lug track for this thing. I studded it with 24 picks so it gets better traction than before but in the loose snow it spins like mad. I would like to get a set of plastic skis to eliminate some of the resistance with the metal skis.Mac-Daddy said:The sled we bought was a 06 Mini REV. It has/had large hyfax on the rear skid. So large that it was larger than the rear axle wheels. I installed the wheel kit for the sled and left the Hyfax out. Kinda surprised that the suspension is only held in place with two bolts on one swing arm.
How old is you boy? Ours is 10 now, he was 6-7 in the pic I use for my avatar (see pic to the left). He wants to be a pro racer when he's older. I wished him the best of luck on that.
As for the travel, it lowered the sled, but made the angle much easier on the track and now it rolls with little effort. For the deep snow (more than 4") I'll put it back to stock.

Have you had that drive shaft out before, the reason i ask is because the carrier bolts on the gear side should have the rounded head towards the gear from the factory, sounds like they were in backwards if the nuts were towards the gear.Mac-Daddy said:I took the drive axle out of the mini and reversed the bolts and nuts on the carrier bearing. So an otherwaise stock mini except for the gear? do you know what kind of speed you were getting? Did you have wheels on the skis?Mac-Daddy said:I have never taken the thing apart. We bought it 2 weeks before Haydays at Princeton MN races. I pulled the sled apart and reversed the bolts (round toward gears) also got the new hub from Sportech and it fits much better. The shoulders on the hub looked heavier and the screws did not stick out at all. Matter of fact, they are flush!!!. We ran the mini at Wausa, no time to test, gas and go after putting it back together, it was only passed by a slightly tweeked Sno-scoot, the larger of the two that were made. So we're getting closer....

By 'on the edge' you mean loose as can be? The track seems to be where it is suppose to be as far as tension goes. I may loosen it up a little though and see how loose I can go. I have the manual chain adjuster from Rec Motor and it is adjusted to spec. How tight is the track?? Ours is on the edge for jumping. Also, how tight is the chain? Too tight and you will scrub alot of power making it turn.
MPH I am not sure but it definitely takes the tension off the rails. Hard to say what is worth it or not....getting the mini to the 15-18 ball park seems pretty easy but anymore than that is tricky.how much better is it after the track wheel kits are on it? Ive changed the clutch and rear sprocket got the governor bypassed and get 15 mph out of it. Is thewheel kit worth $150 from dennis kirk or is there a cheaper place to get it. thanks
Call Sportech directly and you can get them for $129. Unless the price change came through already.how much better is it after the track wheel kits are on it?
