My track was making a strange sound when breaking the trail or playing in powder, like it was slipping on the clogs. last night I dropped my track, cleaned all the ice out, checked my drive chain, and put the tension back on the track. (15 lbs hanging in the center and the 2 finger rule) Tried it today and the same thing.

Anyone have any clue what could be going on?

Have you checked the thickness of your hyfax? Also drop the tension on the track and check out the bearings of the wheels. Also if you feel a vibration after tightening the track up, sometimes you might need to a bit tighter than that to reduce the ratcheting.

Ran the track loose too long and chewed the cogs off the track?

Just give the tensioner bolts another turn or two, wont hurt anything. Also, have you checked that both sides of the skid are tightened the same amount?
