Hi, I have a 1970 AC Panther with a Chap motor that keeps overheating. What's the issue here? I have replaced the cap on the cooling system. Is there a thermostat somewhere that is stuck closed?

Please see photos below of the motor.

I have the same motor in my garage waiting for a new home. It was in my rupp nitro - remove the shield directly above the recoil housing and check the belt tension on the water pump. You should have about 3/8", max, of movement from the belt. You can adjust the tension by loosening the water pump bolts and move the pump to increase tension. There is no thermostat to my knowledge.
