HI Rocco, thanks for asking.

Should have….

  • Black/blue/white primary spring with a cut coil end on it
  • Pivot bolt kit
  • Yellow/orange secondary spring
  • D5 helix

A 154 G4 usually has 21-51 gearing.

Original track 3.5 pitch 3.0 lug at 21-51 is geared for 72mph

Your gears 23-51 with 2.86 pitch track is geared for 78mph

Leave it in and hammer down Buddy.

Do you need a setup sheet? The sled can come with 990 or 965 ramps.

I can send both along, let me know.

p.s. i have a new primary clutch spring the RED at 100/360 so instead of 3200 engage like above then now its 2700 with this spring and just crawl around over trees like a steam roller, hahaha

For plus 30 and 40hp then I need to change the primary clutch spring and add in a tungsten 8.9 gram weight.

And look at the setting sheet for the elevations you run at and good to go.

Hi Trevor.

My experiences the 800etec pulls most hard at 7900~7950 rpms for trail.

If you do backcountry then 8000 and pull down to 7900 and back up. When im in the trees and have to do climbs and wheelies and on/off throttle, I would rather see 8000 rpms to compensate for track spin, hookup etc. I know when there is sudden track speed changes the engine will lower rpms at full throttle, so i would rather overrev a little bit and pull down to 7900 and go to 8.

As long as you can balance the flyweight so when you are running hard that ok, maybe the engine speed recovers to 7800 but immediately climbs back to 7900 and a touch over.

Whatever feels the sled pulling hard all the way and not suffer backshift when chopping throttle.

Buddy the Jawz pipe on average you will have to add 2~2.5 grams over stock pipe. Since 1 gram is estimated 5hp then its probably putting down an honest 10hp as far as engine power goes and say we're converting 7~8 of that power to the track.

Trevor) One thing I noticed yesterday stopping at road crossing I would hear a slight clunk take off not sure if it was secondary or the track seems to be loose too so could have been the drives on the clips

Joe) sorry for the delay in reply Trevor. The clunk you hear is the roller hitting the helix path again.

You brake and the roller pulls away from the helix. You get on throttle and the roller slaps back on the helix path again, that's the clunk you hear.

I have run these in the past and have ordered another set to replace them on my G4 sled.

8200, I think you can add another 1 gram for 8000 and it will pull harder.

The engine is rated at 7900 but tachs read around 100 high so if you run 8000 then it should pull like Jack the bear

Subject: 2015 Summit 800e 146 to Backcountry

Hey Joe,

Just trying to find a good cost effective way to convert my wifes high elevation XM into a low elevation sled. So far I've swapped the 2.5 track for a 1.6 cobra and also traded the 36" front end to a 38"

All I have left is to get the clutching dialed… its my wifes sled but also I use it to occasionally tow a sleigh into our camp, not sure exactly how you build kits for general purpose as I would like to do with mine so I'm curious on what options you have
