Skid tunnel mount rounded

467 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Uller God
Went out last night to pull the skid and noticed the front bolt was loose. Looked in the back and nut and washer were missing. I check everything before each ride so I know it was solid the when I started out last spring. I couldn't believe the bolt was still in place! Anyway it rounded the tunnel a little, maybe a 1/16 inch or so around the bolt. What's the best plan of action to fix this? It's an '05 REV.

Thanks

contact member revmeup, he has a good fix for this problem
weld the hole closed, grind it flat and smooth, drill it out again. Or weld a plate over the hole on the outside and drill a new hole in it. You'd need a little longer bolt.

If you don't fill that hole, so that it is a perfect hole it will just come out again. And more work again. This happend to me before I just did what offshore24 recommend with welding it closed. Next time use more and then more loctite on.

Member "revmeup" sells stainless steel reinforcing washers for this problem. Anyone have any insight on this? Pictures? How exactly do they work?
