Once again its time for fall fairs and that means another chance for people to display their hobbies and crafts in the many competitions that take place at these fairs. I decided after last years 1st place finish in the Open General Colour print section at Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show, that I would try and come up with something to maybe top that.

This years competition had close to 500 pictures entered in 27 different sections. My 1st shot at a winner was in Open General Digital Prints and I used the shot of 3-time Canadian Pro Snowcross Champ Iain Hayden that is featured as the cover shot of my online portfolio at www.supernovaphoto.ca. It finished second in section to the print that would win the Digital Print class.

I had to sit through a few other sections until it was time for Colour Prints. I had 3 prints in this category and felt that my strongest print with a shot for at least a section win would come from here. As the judges worked their way through the 58 entries, I realized that all 3 of my prints had very high scores. My personal pick did have the best score, and won the section, with another picking up an Honourable Mention. Now at the conclusion of each category they take the best print of each section to determine best in class. With 5 other great prints to battle against, I felt that I was in with a shot, and low and behold, I had best colour print in show.

They then take the best Digital Print, Best Black and White Print and Best Colour Print and decide the best print in show. I couldn't believe that the 3 judges picked my print over the other two, but they did.

Final class is for a collection of Colour or Black and White prints and I had two entries here that went on to a 1-2 finish, with a collection of Snowcross pics winning and a series of MX prints finishing second.

Was I happy you ask??? You betcha and I know by now you waiting to see what pic I won with aren't you???
