Hey, any one with thoughts/ experience with milling a stock head on a 600? I was thinking .010". Engine has 125 PSI on each cylinder right now, .010" should keep me below the 150 range?

I Cut my 02 600 .015" with a .022" base gasket and went from 135 to 145. You should be safe with .010". You could go more and put in a thicker base gasket. Depends on what you are trying to gain.
any motor with over 150 psi compression will require high octane race fuel to prevent detonation.

what kind of gains did you get dantrin when you cut your headsthe gasket you are talking about is it the gasket that goes between the cylinders and the block or the head and the cylinders.

Before cutting a head I would check your squish first. Another trick that people have done is put in a thicker base gasket in to alter the port timing and cut the head back to specs

Thanks for the info everyone. I am just looking for a little more performance. every little bit counts. I ride off trail quite a bit, as well as some very long lakes. I dont mind using 91oct gass. The little 600 takes a pounding so every bit of extra power helps..
