Just got home from a dyno session in Edmonton, AB. My 827 motor with 13.8-1 domes, and the porting, stock single pipe and stock can 151.8 hp at 7700rpm.

827 motor with stock single pipe and hps can 149.9 hp at 7900 rpm.

827 motor with stock single pipe hps can, loosened rave valves 152.7 hp at 7700 rpm.

827 motor with dyno port single pipe, and hps can 145.6 hp at 7700rpm.

My dyno man says this is the same hp range as a ported 800 cc motor. Talked to Tom at Motts Machining, he also dyno an 827 last week with his land and sea dyno which made 146-147 hp at 7700-7800 rpm. He also said same horse power as a ported 800cc motor. Do dynos lie? Or did I have a bad day? I am going to sleep on it. Maybe a little angel will change it to 160hp over night.

Whats your jetting,7700-7800 seems too low,my 840 spun its max hp at 8050 on a Land and Sea Dyno which I think was reading a little high.I have read posts of fellas running 390 jets in their 827's,maybe give Kelsey a call.

Kelsey will tell you no one races dynos, he only tests on the hill, no one else has any problems with his motors, etc. etc. Good luck with it. Oh yeah he will also tell you whatever went wrong is your fault

The elevation for the test was 2200 feet, the jetting was 420, bsfc was .60.
My dyno man said if we jetted down to .40 bsfc 500 feet drag spec it would pick up
3 to 4 HP at best. A dootalk member I have talk to burn down at 380. I am
going to ride it and make the best of it.

Ski-b can I ask what is your static compresion and what did you use for fuel? I ask becuase I have seen on our dyno guys that run a mix of race gas when they do not need it loose a handful of HP we switch back to 91-93 octane pump gas and they pick 3-6 HP

Hi guys i spread some pixie dust on it, found a split Y pipe and split in the stock
pipe. Welded them up and the shift RPM is back or stable at 8100-8200.
Vettezr1 we ran 50/50 mix vp c12 and 91 octane, I should have tried my 91
octane in my fuel tank.
It is snowing again, I am going for another ride, thank you GUYs.

The "old split pipe trick"...that'll doo it every time...also explains the low rpm...good luck-BJ

I will confirm this comment. I had 162hp running 93 octane then switched to 110 octane and lost 4hp. Went back to 93 octane and the power was back.

Well there's all your lost power
....not to be a critic here but if those guys running the dyno have all this experience shouldn't they have thought something was up and possibly looked for the problem or had you look ??

....and there was no need to mix in c12 at 2200 ft with 13:8, was that the dyno operators suggestion

Sorrry Guys i should have seen the split Y pipe, the pipe was split on the bottom side. Yes it was the dyno operators advise to use 50/50. He dynos alot of high comp. mountain motors. I am not a dyno guru, i tune buy the seat of the pants. All i no is this motor is faster in the field than my ported 800 cylinders. Pat hauck told me over the phone once, do not care about the dyno, it is in the field that counts first. Have fun riding can,t wait for 2007 sleds. It is just like waiting for christmas.

UPDATE: from the dyno room, 2006 Summit 827 dynoed yesterday,162 HP. No lean jetting, just off the trailer to the dyno. Bad news : stock RX-1 connecting rod out the block, at a dealer close to me . Need a warning decal, flying projectiles. I have to rebuild two motors today, ZR-600 and EX-570 , have to get to work, later.
