Removing the theromostat

I just checked out the thermo delete kit , and I'm contemplating on doing away with the thermo on my modded sled .What are the down sides ?

none . just make sure its warmed up good.

99% of the time the thermostat functions properly, 1% of the time it doesn't and your sled over heats, runs poorly or even seizes.

Deleting the thermostat eliminates the possibility of that happening and keeps you from losing HP to a hot motor.

You don't need to do it, but if you're completely insane like the rest of us, then you'll do it just because you can't stop thinking about it.

I always thought the thermostat was fail-safe. If it failed, it would only stay in the open position. I am almost positive this was the case in the past. Please correct me if you are sure I'm wrong.

I had mine fail last year. The day before it failed I had noticed that the engine was running a little hotter than normal but still well below the red line. I just thought it was due to the warm day (march 25). The next day all of a sudden steam was pouring out from under the hood. Temp light never came on and temp sensor was never in the red. After stoping and refilling the bottle when I started it back up a big cloud of smoke came out of the exaust. After running for 15 seconds it went away. The o-ring on the head had gone form the heat and the pressure while sitting was just passing by the o-ring. Sure enough when I got it home and tore it down the t-stat was completly seized shut. So there is no fail safe. This ruined my last trip of the season not to mention my buddy having to drive back up from New Liskard to Kirkland lake to come get me. I will not be putting a new one back in this year.

after reading all the threads on this matter, i want a delete kit! where do you get'em?
