I have seen threads about being able to read the P-Code on the premium gauge cluster but can you still read the code after the check engine light has turned off? I had mine come on over the weekend and would like to know why but I didn't know how to find the code at the time and light turned off after I shut the machine down. Haven't had a chance to try since we got back from our trip.
The code will still be stored in the ECM and viewable through the BUDS stuff. If you have a battery on board then it should show on the gauge pack if it's an active code. It may not though if it's not active anymore, but still stored in ECM.
I don't have a battery and the code is not active. Sounds like I need to have the BUDS stuff to view it. Aside from taking the machine to the dealer can you retrieve these codes with something like a personal OBDII scanner you can get for vehicle?
