i own a 2005 500ss but would like to get a 800 bought i was thinking now about dumping a 800 motor into and building a sleeper sled instead of selling a nd buying a sled, i know guys that have done with other sleds but i know nobody that has done it with a rev. so any advice would be appreciated and what modifictaions will be required to do this.

Get the 2005 Service manuel from your dealer and follow the steps! hah, I can imagine you pulling away from some 600's and them going .. " *%@ "

hell yeah that's what i want, i wanted to get a 800 but didn't i love the 500ss but why not build a sleep plus gonna be riding alot more up in canada next year so i would love more power

i would like to do the same thing... but i cant find a 800 ho bottom end... newer than a 03.... NONE... once i find a bottom end i am going to build a 800 mod.... big bore and all....

a few guys were telling me that they could do it for me and said it was easy just get the motor, but i just wanna know what else i should do to make it run good and strong, and just how difficult it is.

the easiest and cheapest way to do this is to sell the 500SS and buy an 800. Buy a set of 500SS decals and go racing.

 

[Transformer]

Secondary clutch is different, SS has the old secondary.
Primary clutch is different
belt
Gearing is different
Not sure about exhaust
Electronics are different
Special coded teather for each motor unless you modify it.

If you swap, you want to change everything, electronics and all. So find a smashed 800 and then sell your SS set up after everything is swapped.

Some info there for you...I did the 440-700 swap in the last few weeks...really pretty easy just time consuming, Get the 800 motor, carbs,clutch, airbox and DPM stuff, MPEM and wiring, y-pipe,pipe and can then your golden, easy once you locate all this, everything just bolts up....
