The Keweenaw is a cold weather jacket. I've worn mine at -25F with a mid-layer and T-shirt with no issues. The shell is pretty tough. Mine did loosen up some and isn't as stiff as when new.

 

Personally I’d never buy an insulated riding jacket again. Layers with a heated vest if needed. Reduces the bulk and gives lots of options as the weather changes hour to hour or day to day.

 

I have one, it will get better. Maybe throw it in the dryer and tumble dry low for a bit

 

^^^ I caution this ^^^. It will probably be ok to do so, but some gear has a Waterproof coating that should not go in the dryer. Just read the tag and follow it.

 

You are correct. There are some soaps out there that help with the waterproofing. I use on my gear every year.

As MotoXR said, Tumble drying helps reactivate the DWR, Im sure a tumble dry on low or medium heat will help loosen up the jacket some and shouldn't hurt it.

 

It's a great jacket. It packs insulation in the right places without extra bulk everywhere else. I love it for sledding, never tried it ATVing. Just add an extra mid layer on super cold days, but I've never froze out with this coat.

 

I have the exact set-up and love the warmth, comfort and flexibility of the pants. It will soften up with use.

 

I own this outfit and love it. Up here in Canada it gets real cold and this suit has saved me many times from most certain frost bite and hyperthermia.

 

I had a coat it was stiff to me the whole time I had it. Tried putting in the dryer with sneakers and may have softened it up a bit.

 

I am seriously considering buying a Keweenaw but not sure of sizing. I'm 5'8 190lbs. I have an older FXR Backshift large and lots of room. Worried that the KLIM may be too big. No in my area to try one on. Thanks

 

I am 6’2” 195lbs and have a large regular, fits just right not too big. My friend is same size and ordered the large tall and it fits me better than the regular. Tall was on complete back order when I bought the regular cut.
Royal distributing has sizing charts specific to the klim wear on their website for reference.

Depends on your build and how you like your fit. Order medium and large. Try them on at home and send the other back.


Fwiw. I’m 6’1 210, decently athletic shape and also have Large Keweenaw bibs. Fit is pretty good. I would like an 1 inch or 2 more of inseam but large tall is seemingly never in stock. Tried XL bibs and they were much bigger in the middle. They can be tightened up but would be more for someone that carries more belly weight.

Yes, with mine which is the Kompound Jacket>>>>I leave the inside part out when I wash and then let air dry>>>Then they say to place in dryer to re-activate for water proofing (Gortex)>>>>I also spray a special type of spray on also for more water proofing then>>>

I don’t know, but it’s definitely not a Wisconsin thing...

Other thing to keep in mind is if you wear armor size up. I have an XL that fits without armor but had to go to a XXL to fit my tekvest.
