03 600HO 10,000+miles with rings replaced after 5,000 miles

05 600SDI - Solid so far - 1800 miles

05 800Ptek Gade - Solid - 2800 miles

My only complaint is that both 600's kick the crap out of the 800 in a drag race.

I put mine in the trouble free 600 SDI because nothing serious. Oil consumption/spark plug sometimes foul problem solved and dealer replaced rings on his own recommendation for free at 2800 miles. Nothing that caused me down time or expense except standard maintenance. Now have 3500 miles and counting on my '04 GSX limited.

I have a 2005 600SDI 4500 miles with no problems! HOWEVER...my buddy bought a 2006 600SDI and he's on his second motor. The first one siezed after 10 miles, Skidoo shipped out a new lower unit and fixed it no problem. But the second one also siezed after 50 miles, they replaced one cyclinder and piston. He now has 1200 miles on it...but on Saturday all his trouble lights flashed on. So we shut it off and checked the rear radiator and it was cold. We waited 10 minutes started it up and everything was fine. What's up with that? He'll be in touch with his dealer on Monday!

I sorta have a problem free 04 800 gade, the clutch dampener was loose and changed on warranty. I also checked for flaking rings and upon inspection thru exhaust port, got new pistons and rings on warranty at 4500 kms. I'm now at 7000 and compression is at 145-150 running very hard (just came back from the mountains)...

My brother on the other hand blew up his engine twice, same sled, once at 4000 kms (piston skirt but had new top end plus crank) and a week ago at 4500kms after rebuilt from dealership (not sure what happened but the whole motor is totalled, rods went thru case, oil pump and jugs, could be squirt again or rod or bearing)?

We both ride the same so I'm getting a little edgy

I just wanted to see how many people have had problems with these 3 engines. This will confirm that there are more happy doo riders out there then people who have had problems, well hopefully.

03.5 800 well lets see , pto seal, flaky rings ,piston skirt broke totally wrecked engine, new short block out of warr. OUCH! faulty gas guage, oil cap leaks, coolant cap leaks, recoil self-destructs lotsa fun pull starting with that emer. start cord in the tool kit, carb boot cracked, kill switch works usually, sometimes not, sometimes makes you wonder. I know all this stuff is just internet hype but I wish it did`nt all have to happen to me. I know all manufacturers have there own problems but BRP seems to have more than there fair share and we get the short and pointy end of the stick. 1 year warr. is a joke most of us are lucky to see 3 months of use
