I’m just wondering if anyone has tried these new Pilot R skis on any 850s yet? I’m really curious to know how they work. BTW, do these Pilot R skis use the same rubber bumpers that a 5.7 or 6.9 uses?

I gat a set of the R's a few years ago. They work good but the steering effort was more than I wanted. We put on 150 to 200 miles a ride and at the end of the ride my shoulders were over worked. If you're in your 20's it might not be a problem. Yes it is the same rubbers. I still use them when my buddy and I go up to his camp where the snow is a lot deeper. They are at least an inch wider than stock.

Have used them for 3 years now. They do steer heavier than 5.7s, but they do actually steer ! Tried first with the stock bars, didn't like them & they didn't last. Switched to triple points, huge difference.
have the new R's been out for 3 years now? time flies I guess.....big difference with the old Rs and new model Rs, which closely resembles the C&As. I have a set of older Rs and they're really just a regular pilot with a bit more bite. Have C&A XTs as well and they're more/less specific to soft snow conditions only. Cold hard packed groomed trails are not your friend with new Rs or aggressive C&As IMO.

I got the same response when I asked about Curve skis but I did see a lot of comments on how well the curves work with snow trackers. I have a hunch that the R skis may work well with trackers. I know the 5.7's are not going to be on my XRS for long. May never see the trail.

I have been running Pilot R2 skis since 2018 on my MX Z XRS850. They turn much better than Pilot 5.7's which are awful on groomed trails with hard packed snow. I have never been a fan of the dual carbide ski. I use woody's 8" runners part # WCA-5000. I have a 2019 XRS 850 as well and am looking to buy another set of Pilot R2 skis for that sled. It has Pilot TS skis which are awful as well. Way too much drag when you let off the throttle and I don't like them. Plus you can only buy the runners from Ski-Doo and they are far too much $$$$

I replaced the Pilot Ts's with the Pilot R2's. They feel like the C&A razers that I had on my 800. I love them because the sled goes where it is pointed every time. The steering effort is significantly greater though. I've let friends ride my sled and some ask how I can stand the steering effort.

Hey Folks, I want to bump this back to the top to see if we have more input especially from Gade riders. We all know the Gade tends to push. I am switching back to a Gade and I too am curious if the Pilot R's will be my ski choice. I have run Shapers on my 21, 19 MXZ XRS and with good results. My 15 Gade X still pushed even with 7.5 inch shapers. Please add in more thoughts......

Old style Pilot R's will perform very well without the steering effort of C&A. Way better than stock 5.7's. They also use the same carbides as the Pilot 5.7 which are available everywhere. They are not to be confused with the Pilot R2's which are basically a copy of old C&A race skis.
