I would be totally shocked if you needed more! Almost all the '03-04's were setup WAY too rich on oil consumption. I had to adjust mine all the way slack to 21mm to get 40:1 (still a lil' rich!).

Have fun,

40/1 To rich?
Thats way to lean! 30 to 35 is more like it. I am at 28/1 now and am going to leave it. My last calculations I was consuming 1oz. of oil per 3 miles traveled. These engs. need oil. My cable is currntly set at 15mm.

BRP was asked that exact question in their section here (now deleted) and their response was 45:1 is the proper ratio for all series III motors. Mine runs great and no longer has oil fouling issues at about 40:1. But hey, if you have money to burn (literally), whatever makes you happy!

Isn't 45:1 recommended by BRP? My cable is at about 24ish lol
I'm running around 38:1 for the past 7000 kms - all is good.

My sled is running at 24:1 and I am have no oil related issues and I must be one of the fe 800 PT owners that have had no problems with the motor. A little extra oil is cheap insurance.

my 05 SDI 600 was set at 18mm at the adjuster,it consistantly ran 28:1, I had about 2 mm free play at the throttle, I adjusted to 19mm, that's 1 complete turn of thr adjusting nut and there is no more adjustment left, it now runs 35:1. The sled has 10000kms and still runs great. I adjusted at 9000kms. That's all I need, I could get 600kms to a tank of oil, that's about a days riding for us, the oil light was on for the last 100kms, that will be good insurance now.
