Wifee's 2010 GSX 600 Etec

At the end of the 2020 season while doing some post season maint. I ran into an issue that I believed to be a wiring problem. All switches, fuses and relay check ou OK, I never did figure it out. Pretty much got it running and put it away for the summer.

2021 season, I notice that every once and a while the electric start seems to be dead, but a quick tug on the rope and were off, so we're not stranded. Somehow i figure out that if I just pull the engine over by hand, and the engine doesn't fire, the electric start will magically work again.

Any guesses??

power cable from battery to starter bad? Is it dead, like not doing anything, or make some noise?

Check your battery ground and make sure it is tight.

Is the rope hitting the wiring harness? Down at the recoil housing end/intake?

Solenoid ground side?

Are your engine mounts solid/firm?

Is the crank position sensor loose?

I know of no way to diagnose the electrical without at least monitoring DC voltage such as off the battery. Without measuring I am just as good with a blind fold.

If you get around someone who understands 12v start probing and when you find something unexpected ask questions.

Good advise. It is too common to see under 9 volts at the battery and even less at the starter. It may work ok in June, but by Nov or Dec the starter seems to stall.
