Today I used the NYS snowmobile trail App for the first time in the Tug Hill area. I LOVED it. I could see EXACTLY where I was at any time. No cell service necessary. It's called "Snowmobiling NY State". It'll show you your track/distance/fuel/food...... I highly recommend when exploring new areas.

Used it few times. Helpful over in Ohio when we would get to intersections with no signs. First time there.

Both the NYS web and phone apps are very good. I have used them both. They just enabled trail condition reports on the web app this season and they are working on adding it to the phone app. I believe they are going to charge $15 for the phone app but it might be worth it.

The web app is pretty cool because they just made some other enhancements and now you can see the following:

- Club Reported Conditions

- Groomer Activity based on GPS

- Rider Activity over the past 6, 24 or 48 hours... this is pretty cool because it can tell you were the trails are good or where to stay away from too many people

- Trail Sense..... which shows trail quality from smooth to bumpy

Hope they add this stuff to the phone app too....

I run their app dash mounted in a Ram AquaBox. The phone stays plugged in and it beats pulling out a map at all of the unknown intersections. It even creates enough heat to keep the screen melted off.

Love the route planner, can put my route in and just follow the line.

All of those features are coming to the app soon but you can visit their site from the phone in the mean time and see the trail conditions data.

I like this idea. Can you get the power cord inside, Do you have to modify it to do this? Can you shoot a few pictures of the case and cord closer up?

The phone can also be plugged in directly. You have to use a very flexible cord or get a 90° adaptor to make it fit if your phone is large, the next side up AquaBox would probably be a better fit for the really big screens. The internal dimensions are listed on the ram website.
A Galaxy s7 is tight in the medium box, the device shown in the previous post is a Moto X.

I've used a few of the phone apps and they do work great! My main navigation is a $100 garmin from the box store with the Mohawk trails overlay. It's my favorite so far and pretty inexpensive when u compare other options. Cold hasn't affected it in the last 2 seasons and I sealed the case with silicone from some video I found on the old interwebs from a cross country biker. Added the power outlet from the newer sleds and couldn't be happier...with the GPS I mean I'd be a lot happier if I were riding right now

anyone have any luck loading a route / kml file created on a pc to a galaxy s7? I keep trying and it crashes the app every time. The app people have been trying hard to help, just cant seem to narrow down what is happening, seems like it something I am doing wrong./

My iPhone 6 freezes up and shuts down, even with a 2.1 amp charger off an external battery pack. I put a 3W heater behind the case and it still didn't work. I have a Garmin Nuvi with trail maps but the cell app is so is much better.
Did you try the wireless charging pad and wireless charging adaptor for the phone? It creates quite a bit of heat.

What map are you using on the Nuvi?
