BR8ECS is the correct plug for the SDI.

prior to this all sdi's were to use br9ecs (not br9ecs5 = 800's)

For an SDI, you want a plug gapped at .031". I beleive what you have is gapped at .018". The first SDI sleds came with BR9ECS plugs, but at some point in the '06 model year they switched to the BR8ECS.

I've found the following info on NGK plugs:

BR9ECS:

The 4771 and 6669 are solid top plugs gapped at .018.

The 4677 is a solid top plug and is gapped at .031.

The 3570 is also gapped at .031, but is a screw top plug.

BR8ECS:

The 4172 is gapped .031.

Unless they changed for '06, the 500ss engine uses the same traditional ski-doo gap of .018...
