ok so once i converted to ski doo we sold my yamaha and my mom sold her yamaha and she now has an 06 500ss gsx, my dad has now sold his yamaha, and gave me the chore to finding what ski doo sled would fit him the best. hes about 6 foot and 250 and we ride pretty aggressive, im thinking the 600 2-tec, i think a 500ss adr would be alittle small for him. i also think that the renagade would be good. i figured what better site could help me out with this. your input i will take into consideration. thanks in advance.

The 500ss motor is the old 600 motor, definetly enough for him....I would say a Rev chassis 600 adrenaline should do the trick....Or even a 500ss Adrenaline....The only difference between the 500ss and the 600 is the 600 is a high output (ho) motor and is an sdi (semi-direct injection).

I am 6'4" and 270 lbs and I ride a ZX Summit 600. Does just fine...The only place I notice is top end...but I geared down too...I ride my Dads 500SS Adr. No problem and with a 3" pivot riser its almost perfect for me (he is a little shorter), I think that would be the perfect sled for him, my motor has just short of 10k miles on it, and runs great, by far one of the best ski-doo has made! Maybe a shock upgrade if he likes pounding jumps etc...But the sled would be good for him IMO.... Good luck on your search!
I highly reckomend a Summit. Go where you want to go! Go fast even on powder! The long tracks are great for jumping. Give the old man some good advice - "Summit" He won't waist his time getting unstuck.

Maybe I should have ask where you live first? But even if I live in the flat lands, I'd get at least get the Gade. I'll never go back to the short track again. The longer track takes the bumps a lot better and the advantage off trail is huge! But I guess it all depends on where you live.

As far as motor goes, 600HO is good, but the 800 would be better. But what do I know, I'm a little bit power hungry.

600 SDI spanks the carbed 600. easy starting goes right to idle. 19-20 MPG.

I can't wait to get my Summit X-RS 151 800R! Can't wait to find someone on a new Yamaha mountain sled with the 162" track. They will understand they made the wrong choice.

I came across a 162" Yamaha mountain sled with a 2 rider seat option last year. Owner said it was 700lbs. He and his girl friend was struck in about 4 feet of powder. His girl friend or wife? was just standing there watching him try to get the sled back on the trail. I was on a 600 ZX summit and my son was on the old 583 summit. We stopped and help him out. Afterwards the guy actually asked us if he could ride in front of us because he didn't want to smell our 2stokes. I told him that would be fine, but if his over weight 4 stroke got stuck on the way, our old school 136" skidoos were going to keep going.

It just rubbed me the wrong way I guess. I wonder if most of the 4 stroke owners are stuck up snobs thinking they are better than everyone else, regardless of the performance of their sled.

I just looked up the weight of the APEX 150HP Mountain Sled and it weighs about 600lbs dry! I think the Summit is something like 460lbs. I just can't weight! That's like adding a 140lbs. rock with weak mid range torque.

Nice! Got a ride on one when I was around 13 or 14. If I remember right, it was Orange and had 3 pistons. Our 300cc Eskimo that had room for 3 people didn't fair too well against it.

But I still think a Summit or Gade would be much better.
