There’s a long thread in the general snowmobile forum if you can find it.
I bought a 2021 MXZ 600efi for my wife new.
It has a bunch less power than a 2003 600ho. On a good hardpack trail it will run over 90 mph on the speedo, but deep wet snow will pull it down to about 70. It’s a great working sled though, very fun to ride. Weight transfer from the uncoupled SC 5M is a big part of the fun factor. A 115 lb woman will likely find the suspension adequate. If you hop on it and pound it through a rough section of trail, you’ll find it bottoms the front skid shock easily. Driven together it uses about the same amount of fuel and oil as my 850. But when we bought it, it was about $5000 cheaper than a TNT 600R, and I like the idea of simplicity meaning less cost of ownership over the long haul. I have no plans of getting rid of it.

Wife has a 22 mxz with upgraded shocks from monster, about 3200 miles on it right now. Stock shocks are absolute trash and gotta go unless you ride slow. Gets 18 mpg (with her driving), you can run cheaper non-etec oil(I run Doo mineral, technically you are suppose to run semi-syn), runs on 87 octane trash gas. Shoots to 70mph in a hurry, crawls eventually up to about 80. Stock seat is too soft for a man but works with my 115 lb wife. I'm sure an r motion skid is better but I've never ridden one so I can't compare. The hand warmers get unbelievably hot.

No problems running the 87 octane? The manual and cap say 87 if ethanol free which I’ve never seen. I’ve just been using 91 ethanol free and XPS synthetic. I’m going to switch to the Mystik sea and snow next year.

We own a 22 Renegade 600 EFI. My advice is to buy it. Don't get caught up in the top speed debate either because while they don't scream up top the throttle response is great and they are a blast to ride. As for the skid it has in it it is more playful than an R motion especially the new ones and it rides just fine. They are great machines imho ;)

My wife has almost 400 miles on her 23 backcountry 600efi. It is a nice sled. She is coming off a 15 renegade 600carb and doesn’t even notice the difference. The one thing she did notice is how light it feels and she likes that. It Is good on oil and gas does use more gas than my 600R but not a ton. The sled is nice and I would have no problem riding it. It of course has less torque and power than the 600R but she keeps up just fine and vice versa when we switch. If you are after top speed it’s not for you but overall I’m happy with it. I did add an MXZ seat I bought from a dootalker and picked up some rebuildable gas shocks to put on which I haven’t done yet.

I bought a 22 efi on April 1st and unboxed it and rode it home.

Like any sled I ride it got
C&a skis
4 good shocks

Love gen 4 platform
Love gas and go
Love being able to change spark plugs easily

Mine rips and I plan to clutch it myself
I run 200mm rear wheels what a difference.
I also have on loan a Rs600 exhaust to try out.

I haven't heard anything like a complaint from my fiance about it not being user friendly.

About 500 miles into a Backcountry 600 EFI and coming off of a 600 carb. It’s been excellent. For what I do, which is primarily trail riding right after a snow or groomed trail, it’s perfect. I almost never get a chance to get it up to 90 with my local twisty trail system, but it’ll get there. Speeds up to 60 or 70 similarly to the carb, but the carb pulls ahead after 70. Overall, I prefer this EFI because it’s less work to maintain. Shocks don’t bother me maybe because I’ve never experienced skidoo’s new premium shocks. So in my world of sport sleds, it’s been great.

We just got a 900 ACE renegade and I took it out for the first time Monday. Now that’s a more planted long haul trial machine. But the EFI feels incredibly light weight in comparison, which is great for my solo rides. I’ll plan on using the EFI when riding solo and 900 ACE in a group.

buy it! Great sled!

I have the MXZ version for my very timid riding wife and my now 11 year old. mine is a 2021 and it is perfect for my wife and my kid to learn on. The suspension is soft but I found 2 x package front shocks for $500 total. I also bought a seat off a XRS because someone didnt like the red on it.

Great sled, sips oil, hardly uses gas and a fun little sled. We did not take ours in for the recall ECU thing because my dealer told me it was detuning them a notch to make them run cooler. The speedo says top speed on ours is 87 mph which was down a gravel road. I assume its about a 75mph sled. I love riding it and having some fun with it.

Ok, I've been on my 2015 TNT 600 e-tec so that is what I have to compare to.. I bought a 2023 Renegade 600 EFI a couple weeks ago, I put 301 miles on it in northern Wisconsin & U.P. Michigan this last weekend....the Renegade seems to ride smoother than my TNT, the seat is softer, the power is more smooth than the e-tec (when the power valves kick in at 7000rpm you have to really hold on on the e-tec). The rear suspension eats up the bumps well, the sled handles well through the twisties in the woods and there is enough power to lift a ski coming out of the corners. It handled deep snow well also with plenty of power to get me through all I put it through. The seat looks to short, but it is not...I'll be keeping that seat. MPH seems to top out about 85, that is plenty for me & more than enough for 99.9 % of all trail & lake riding. I got 15-16 mpg riding at a good clip all weekend.
I will be keeping the Renegade and selling the TNT... I will probably up grade the shocks (my preference, though not absolutely necessary), I'll be adding screw in studs and a fuel caddy. I already added the mid height windshield w/side deflectors.
Just mt 2 cents....

I have a snowmobiling family, although most rent sleds. My sister rides the most out of the renters.
She‘s tried 600 / 900 ace, 550 fans, Doo and Poo. Cat / Yamaha 4 strokes. We let her ride my wife’s clutched 900 ace for a day hoping she would like it. No way!
On our last trip I rented her a 600efi Renegade just to change things up.Plus I really wanted to try it.
What a difference in her riding style she was keeping up with the rest of us like never before. It’s lighter and easier for her to handle than the previous snowmobiles she rode. Our first day of riding was smooth trails and she commented if she was going to buy a snowmobile it would be the 600 efi. The next day the trails were beat up. We had 2 riders turn around and go back to the cabin.
Not my sis she had no problem riding and never complained.
I rode it for a short time and was surprised. The seat looks odd but when you ride the sled it’s not a concern. The sled performs, it accelerates hard and is responsive.
I should of looked into the 600efi before moving my wife into a 600R.

Local dealer has four of those EFI renegades left over. And I’m honestly debating just buying one in the off season to have as a backup. I don’t need a sled now and probably wouldn’t buy for maybe 2 years to replace a current one. But man is that EFI a good engine for the renegade. And given how quickly prices are rising, how crazy would it be to just buy one now to start seriously using it in 2-3 years when my main driver is up in miles.

I just bought the 600EFI in the renegade you are talking about. Nice sled and the 2023 renegades have the 1.35 cobra track on them and next year for 2024 they are called MXZ and the only 2 stroke you can get in the 137 inch or renegade unless you buy the Enduro. So, I was going to order a 2024 but the dealer had one on the floor, so I bought it. But I would buy the sled now and then cut down on your current sled for miles over the next few years.

I spring ordered a 2021 BC Sport back when it was first introduced by the urging of dootalker ProX who rides bigger motors (850 XRS BC, Summit 850, Lynx XTerrain 850) etc. He got one for his wife too. I swear whenever I saw him on the trail, he was riding it lol. Anyway they put almost 2500+ on theirs and sold it for a 22 Renegade EFI the next year again no issues on that one. This year she changed to a 600r x Renegade.
My Backcountry has been AWESOME except the seat I swapped. Just finished my 3rd season, now with 2000 trouble-free miles since I ride others (22 mxz 600r and 16 900 Ace) from my house. It's gps'd several times on the pond at 75-77 mph. That's with a 1.6 Cobra. Compared to my 600r it's louder. The throttle is not as touchy and surprisingly responsive. It's playful and fun especially in ungroomed or off trail. Pushing deep snow or trail riding, the engine is great until it hits its wall. I've ridden it hard in all conditions and lakes with no complaints on the suspension. Using 87 and brp full syn with average consumption.
By luck in January, I won a club raffle of a 23 MXZ model 600 EFI so I rode that too. It had the one button gauge and a gray painted tunnel for it was built at the Lynx factory. I did like that as opposed to unpainted aluminum of my 21. Again that seat had to go.
I would not hesitate to buy a 600 EFI in any model. Back when they first came out, there was a lot of unknowns and naysayers, but mine and my friends have given many miles of great riding. I don't regret my purchase one bit. The 23 is getting sold to a friend.
