I only watched the show a few times...My guess would be that, like a lot of those shows, they want to create the illusion of struggle and tough times.

A brand new sled, i suppose, takes some of that away.

 

I watch the show here and there. I actually only really watch a few of the guys and fast forward through the rest. Marty is one I watch.

The year Marty bought and used that 600ace, he was riding from home, or somewhere close to it. In the first season of the show, he was telling us how he got the tundra to the far out areas, far from home.. He said he dismantled the tundras he has, piece by piece, and flew them out there in trips on that plane. Then rebuilt them on site. My guess is the 600ace is at home, and the tundra is the only sled for being that far out from home.

He has different trapping areas - I think the tundra is at his original location and the ace is at a new location he was trying out. This season he is back at the original location again.

Every time I watch an episode my wife keeps saying 'don't get any ideas!' - I have no idea what she is talking about...

I would like to see what the filming crew are riding...That would be interesting too...Maybe we will find out when they're done with the serie.

 

I havent caught the past few seasons of Life Below Zero but I know Sue Aikens is on a Doo, I would assume an ACE as well. And the crew following her is also on Doo. And looks like the group with the Hailstones is on Poo, I know the Hailstones ride Poo as well, at least last time I watched it.

Did you happen to see the episode where she got her sled sideways on the ice and rolled it? Apparently the shows producer asked her to flip the sled intentionally, to add a little extra high drama to the segment. Anyway, she was injured in the stunt, and had to be airlifted out for medical treatment. So much for "reality".

Just my opinion, but Life Below Zero has a lot of fairly obvious BS in the way they (the producers) portray things. Don't get me started on Glenn Villeneuve... that guy seems to be operating with more than a few bricks shy of a full load.

Mountain Men is one of the few "Alaskan" shows that I find interesting enough to watch... Marty, Tom, and Morgan seem legit, both in their efforts and how they allow themselves to be portrayed. The Last Alaskans has also been pretty decent, along with that show based up on the Tanana River... Yukon Men.

I did see something about that. She sued them I think. Well she really crashed and really had to be airlifted so.

All the shows are BS. I actually haven't watched any network TV for over a year, minus a couple free episodes of Streeeet Outlaawwwwwwwws(inside joke on the show if you know lol) on the Discovery app since YouTubeTV doesn't get Discovery.

Mostly watch regular YouTube channels for car/automotive stuff now(Cleetus McFarland, 1320video, Finnegan's Garage, etc etc)

I just like Sue and then the Hailstones too. They seems like the ones that would keep doing what they do even if the cameras were gone, since they were doing what they do before the the video men along. Sue seems like a tough SOB imo. She did the Joe Rogan podcast a couple years ago too, interesting stuff.

 

One thing I noticed when they brought out Marty's new Tundra 600 Ace last season, was that they didn't blur (pixilate?) the ski-doo logos out of shots of the sled, which makes me believe that sled was part of a product placement deal between the production company and BRP. Noticed that in segments with Tom Ore and his old trusty Elan, they blur out the skidoo logos on the hood. They do the same thing with brand logos on stuff like jackets & hats, and chain saws that end up on camera.

 

Yes, where is his new machine???? Wtf!
