My sled is registered in Minnesota where I live. When I go to the UP I buy non resident trail pass put it the on my sled. I’m good to go.
You should be fine just as long as your sled is registered and has current registration on it of where you live. And a Michigan pass

You can purchase them at many to most gas stations so if you want to wait until u get there u ca.

 

Michigan trail pass is so nice just to be able to stop most places grap a sticker and boogie down the trails...

 

I always purchase my trail pass thru MISORVA. Helps them out.
