Thoughts on using Mercury Quickleen fuel additive in a 600 etec? I live in a remote place where its hard to get...pretty much anything lol.
I just want to make sure my injectors and valves get cleaned every now and then without having to take it to a shop.

What have u guys used and what do u recommend for 2 stroke etes?

I can get mercury products, stp, seafoam, napa, amsoil etc

Premium fuel and occasionally seafoam for this guy...

funny seeing this post as I've thought about trying either yamaha or mercury additive in my 800E. I know outboards are much less stressed than a sled motor, but can't see what harm to run a little ring free type carbon blaster. You'd think it might help the rave valves stay cleaner longer. Anybody ever try any of these type carbon additives ? I'm using seafoam right now.

No premium fuel available. Seafoam's been good to your etec? How long have u been using it on those motors?

I buy and sell constantly so I can't give you any long-term advice. My current 600 etec has 400 miles since I rebuilt it top and bottom at Christmas.

However I've used seafoam for the past 10 years in all my motors... Seadoo, skidoo, atv, motorcycle, lawn mower, motorhome, car, truck, etc... In my 2 and 4 stroke and everything works fine and sometimes better... But I don't go crazy with it. I just toss it in the fuel for long trips and at the end of the season.

All fuel being equal... I don't think additives are necessary. However I'm in Canada and I don't think you can get 'bad gas' as often as people claim. I personally have never had 'bad gas' and ride constantly all around the province of Saskatchewan.

I've heard in the USA you get what you pay for and there are places that sell below grade fuel at a discounted price. Anyone know if this is valid?

So long as a station sells enough to get fresh fuel on a regular basis. I think it's all good without extras.

I think it would work as well or better than other products. Outboard's can produce a lot of carbon buildup leading to problems. I believe Yamaha makes "ring free" or close to that name, and brp makes something too. Older omc motors had problems with carbon buildup and poor running or blown up is the result. With the slow speeds and rpms while trolling or just idling around, they tend to build up carbon.
Sleds on the other hand however are subject to higher rpms and burning it off. It's always a good idea with Outboard's to run them wot each trip out. Your call on if you think it would be beneficial but isn't going to hurt.
I work on Outboard's And sell as a hobby in the summer.

Just went on a trip today. 85 miles. At around 50 miles, it started bogging and idling weird. Then the CHECK ENGINE light came on, temp had been normal while riding. Went on a lake and WOT for like 5-7 seconds, check engine light went away and sound and power came back to normal.

Scared me a bit. I think my exhaust valve on one side was sticky for a moment there. So I dumped a bit of seafoam on the next fuel up since i had just bought a bottle.

Using brp synth oil, regular unleaded fuel 87 oct (so I may be getting some carbon built up from low octane fuel?)

I will be giving it doses of seafoam and see how it does.

Isn't your sleds recommended fuel grade 91 octane?
If this is the case your fuel is not high enough for adequate combustion preformance.

Yes 91 is recommended but all we have here is 87 octane. I did a fair amount of research on riders who do use reg 87 octane on etecs before i decided to pull the trigger on this machine last year.
It runs good now, about 2k miles. Just had that one episode the other day
