Howdy gents!!!

As most of you know, my obsession with the Rev was long lived and my 07 XRS went through many changes over the years. But this year, after finishing it for the last time, beating the doors off it, and grinning the entire time, I figured it was time to move on. I looked at the XM, but I knew I would have to change so much stuff off it and modify it, it would be Augestine money pit. I looked at the SP, but I don't like the etec motor enough to dive into one. So what was I left with......the good ol, 2016 Summit Sport 154 with the 800R carb motor. Finally found one and I couldn't say no to the price they were selling them for.

So just over a month ago, I drove to Duluth to pick one up

From the factory they are nice, but look like a grandpa version of a Smut to me.

So, I didn't even get the sled home and had to stop at The Mod Barn.

Factory parts that were not needed got taken off right away ( and in my true fashion, sold immediately ) and started figuring out what exactly I want to do with it.

I didn't own it for 5 hours and this was the last time it would ever look like this

First thing first, those junk factory shocks had to get taken off.....I had a set of Float 3s sitting on the shelf, so I put them in. Yes they are 19" long, but I like the way they make it sit up taller, it's skinnier, and it folds over much easier. I also flipped the ski bushings to narrow the skis a little more.

Next on the list was the pipe shield....take that off too.

(I don't want to debate the needs of parts like this...I've been doing that for years [emoji106])

Obviously the grandpa windshield had to go as well.....those ugly holes will be taken care of later

At this time, all the foam under the hood was removed along with the plastic piece that deflects he exhaust heat, which is pointless in my mind.

Also, the sway bar was completely removed

Ripped it around for a day and it was a major improvement from the Rev.... And it will only get better as things change.

Kept it mostly stock, just changed the weights from high to low elevation and the thing rips pretty dang good

Took all the ugly factory stickers off.... And swapped the seat off my dads XM and all I can say is wow, that's something I need to find is a new seat

After stock piling parts, I decided to start changing a few things.

Called up Mountain Fit Hoods and got the vented headlight delete ......

It is almost in, but I still have some trimming and am going to cover that top part where the windshield used to mount.
My buddy Jared had a cracked windshield and he hooked me up with the old base. So those ugly holes will get covered up for a much smoother more finish look

A plus to running the 800R carb, you can take that big, heavy, unnecessary air box and get rid of it.

Multiple reasons ( I'm not debating this, it works great for me)

You get a bunch more air flow in the engine bay
You get more air into the carbs. You can make the air box as big as you want, but when you funnel the box to a hole the size of one K&N pod and re expand it, you are still restricting air.
Also that box weight a few lbs.

So take that thing out and save it for your buddy for when he parks his sled into a tree like mine did

Look how much more room you have once the upper one is gone

Obviously if you get rid of the upper box, unless you want to run some sort of snorkel or RS style upper air box, you have to remove the lower air box.

I slapped a set of K&Ns inside with some snow charger pre filters

Also, just because I love CF so much, I decided to try the Carbon Sled Parts Carbon Fiber brake assembly cover. My feet are not normally up in that area, so I'm not really afraid of damaging it. If I do, I'll change it out with something different

But hey, it weighs a lot less and that is the goal.

Nice and shiny

And yes.... Once the sled is done, which this will be an on going project, it will get put on the scale.

Lots has to be changed this summer... 860, belt drive, blah blah blah..... I don't have a desired weight, but will be interesting to see. If I wanted to be super light, it wouldn't have any powder coating or I wouldn't be wrapping it. Im adding things that will add weight, but will strengthen and protect important pieces.

Heck, I also want it to look trick as heck!!!!!

This big obnoxious cover thing has to go as well. I'll be removing that CVT cover/belt holder and removing all the other plastic ( I know the can rub the door when it is on its side, but they make new doors all the time and have for years, so it has to go). I will also be drilling a bunch of holes in the aluminum guard.

Yes I will also be adding vents to assist in keeping the clutches cool and keep air flowing the hood

The 16s should have the s36 front, my 13 sport does. Maybe looks a little off cuz he put on the Floats and raised the front a little. Question for your trippy, when you changed up the air box and added the K&N do you need to do any jetting changes? I've been thinking of doing something like this.

That all depends on what else ya have done. With my 07 800R, I slapped the pods on and the sled instantly ran better and never had to change jetting. After a laundry list of mods done to that sled including bored carbs, 860, exhaust.... Blah blah... Yes I had to change the jetting, obviously

As for the stock motor, I'm going to run it like this for now. All 4 800 motors and the 2 600s we have done, no jetting was changed. I still say plug check after doing anything with the motor
