I alos have a Polaris 800 that requires a full synthetic and I do not want to inventory two seperate brand oils. Is anyone running Klots in the 850 and if so have you had any issues...I am lookin to buy a 5 gallon pail and use it in everything..

Running Klotz will not void your warranty

I've been told this by many techs, sales person, dealer owners and a handful of Doo Reps

They all say "as long as it's a comparable oil, it will be fine.

With this being said. This is my answer / opinion from what I've been told. Can some have issues with warranty claims. Yes it is possible. But that is also part of your relationship with your dealer and a few other things

Dealers NOW don't get paid by BRP till they see the parts making it less likely any dealer will take a chance on a warranted unit using non BRP oil .I see it all the time here .First thing service asks is about the oil if internal motor issues .Not worth the $$ issue for me .

I did not buy a 850 but I had to sign a paper saying I would use skidoo brand oil or void warrantee. 600carb
This is incorrect. The paper you sign states you have been informed that the best oil for your machine is BRP XPS oil and you acknowledge that. The paper does nothing to indicate you void your warranty not using the BRP oil.

No rust inhibitors in Klotz ,and why void your warranty ?
You must be thinking of a different Klotz oil; the snowmobile oil definitely does, but the Benol (full castor) or Super Techniplate (castor/synthetic blend) doesnt. Either of those aren't suitable for winter use anyway. Their full synthetic R50 has anti-oxidation protection as well.

As stated before BRP oil stinks. Gives me a headache. Even though it is way over priced I would still run it if it didn't give a headache. Oh and burns the eyes also. Thinking of going back to two stroke(850) but the two stroke oil just might steer me away
It sure does stink, I wish BRP would do something about that. I've found it's not really any higher than most premium aftermarket synthetics though, and cheap as anything if you can get to one of the snowmobile shows- I haven't paid any more than $30-$35/gal for the past 2-3 seasons.

I would run that new VES Extreme oil in both sleds.

Klotz oil is too complicated. They offer 3 different options and two are not recommend for oil injection.
They only offer one two stroke version with the word Snowmobile on the jug, that's not very complicated. If you go to their page and select snowmobile it will also show the Super Techniplate and R50. I'm not sure what advantage R50 would have over the snow and Super Techniplate has no business being in a sled during the winter- it's thick as snot, no corrosion protection, and can separate from fuel if not agitated. Maybe for grass or asphalt drags??

The only 850 I know of to have engine problems in my circle of friends was on legend. Not that it had anything to do with it just my observation.
Bad fuel seems to be more of an issue than oil in today's 2 stks. What oil were you guys using when you and your dad were having issues .?When you see the piston scored and dry it's more of a fuel issue not mixing with the oil .
