Im just wondering if there is anything i should do to help with tuning it? how was the power increase? Did you get the mpem reflash? they said it was basicly a need so i could hit 8500 and make the best power.

thanks for any help,

PM kovs for more info
Waiting on my kit also, cant wait to get it. I sent my mpem to get recurved also. Is 8500 where it is suppose to run with the kit now? Wow alot higher then stock.
He said for my elevation to go down 3 sizes in the mains(0-1000elv.), add some wieght (cant remember how much) to the clutch to get it up to 8400-8500prms, send the mpem to the skidoo race dept. and get it relashed for his settings. Im sure theres a few little tweaks to be done but thats what he told me quick over the phone. He said between 1 week and 3 weeks until i get it, and usually 3-4 weeks for the mpem reflash.

So far the customer service has been GREAT. He seems to really know what hes talking about.
I just hope my motor makes it more than a season, sounds like it should. My plan is to runs there kit with a brand new bottom end thats been trued, then vf 3's, 1/4 reed spacers, BJ's t-stat delete, ceramic coated stock pipe and y pipe, slp silencer, and some sort of egt guage (hopefully avenger 2 if i can find one)

should be fun and reliable.

Don't go TOO TIGHT on the rings.
Gap is .014 -.018 to tight and you are asking for trouble

I quit riding my 1000 after the rk tek. IMO it is great just do exactly what
kelsey says. No pipe, no can. We tried and it did'nt work.

Has anyone tried with and without mpem recurve, how much difference. Mine is not done.

good note smitty, that would mess up ones day fast,

i did not have the drop in kit, i was running the 827 kit. prob would be a totally different set up jetting wise with the 827 to the drop ins.
i just recommend caution with your main jet size at the lower elevation, obviously fatter is better to start with then go down sizes.

Yep,

Why does this kit have to rev so high? On a big twin the higher the piston speed the greater the chance of crank failure. About the highest piston speed you want to run is around 4000 feet per second for prolonged engine life. And I believe the 800 Doo motor is spinning that in the 8000RPM range? Can anyone verify that? Has anyone ever dynoed this kit to see just where this kit really does make it's max HP and torque? BJ, have you? Kelsey, have you? This is the only concerne of mine for this kit. Other than that, it looks like a very clean, finished product.

Well im no pro like those guys but i read a thread started by BJ, and on te dyno he hit the best numbers at 8000 (if i remember right), but out on the lake his but dyno said that 8400-8500 was the sweet spot. pulled way harder there than down lower.

AS far as crank life? not sure. But I do know that the drop in kit is a better flowing desing (motor doesnt have to work as hard to do the same things) the head flows coolant better so the motor runs cooler, and its a dual ring piston so heat dispersion(sp?) is better. All these things should make crank life longer, although high compresion and higher rpms could make it shorter the other benafits of the kit should even it out i think? As far as crank life goes with a completely stock 800ho i made it 2 seasons... if this kit lasts at least that long ill be happy, Ill be happier if it last longer though!

Maby BJ, or Kelsey can explain some of this better just thought id help,

Any one with the kit riding at 9,000 and above? What setup are you using?
Who has an address on where to send the MPEM for recurving?

I DO!

E-mail Tom Lawrence at the Ski-Doo Race dept
[email protected]

He'll need a full list of everything you've modded (Pipe/can/jetting) What octane used and what elevation running at, etc...He used to charge $50.00 U.S. in the form of a check payable to Ski-Doo Race Department but e-mail him to get current info and his schedule. He can tweak that Lil' black box to the hilt!!

Anybody know where the rev limit is set on the 800PT? Does it need a recurve for 8400rpm?
