Ok,I am sure there are a lot of you that have been reading alot of this 05vs06 stuff
so I have taken it upon myself to show some results.
These results are to compare 05 with solid pins and 06 with 25mm insert.
First the sled.
Bone stock 05 mach-z o5 mapping reinstalled with 1 degree timing advance with only 16.5 gram pins added to the primary and 144 1.175 woodys.
But it has had a good going over in the chassie.
The day!
3000' of ice marked out in 1000' increments.
average temp -3.6c
bero 99.9
wind hitting the track from the left side of the sled 14KMH
humidaty 42%
I'd give you density but not avilable??
First was 3000'
It took a few runs to get things dialed in I started at clicker 4, three runs, 2nd faster then the first and 3rd falling off from second
1) 122.6
2) 124.8
3)123.4
Turned the clicker to 5 and the speed dropped to 123.6.
turned to 3 and the sled came up, the runs where.
1) 124.5
2)125.1
3) 124.6
At this point I was happy and turned to 2000'
I did 3 runs only.
1)118.0
2)118.8
3)118.7
The last thing to do was 1000' and this is what surprised me the most!
1)105.3
2)105.9
3)108.8
All speeds where on a Stalker radar gun.
2 weeks ago I tested with the 06 mapping the best I could get was 120.1 mph in more then 3000' and would only ran 104 in 1000'. the bero was at 101.9, temp was -4c and there was very little wind, humidity was 38% but again no air density.
Regardless of the air density with over 50+ runs the 06 mapping is not as fast on the top end as the 05, and with 144 studs,it is faster in 1000' and 2000' because I could hook it up.
As a side note, there was another sled there that has run on other days that I tested the the 06 mapping, and he ran 130.1.
Today with no changes to the same sled he ran 130.3.
so very simular conditions for testing.
So what ever you want to believe, there is a difference or there is not.
All I can say is I am glad I went back to 05 mapping.
Pray for snow and ride safe.
