Ok,I am sure there are a lot of you that have been reading alot of this 05vs06 stuff
so I have taken it upon myself to show some results.

These results are to compare 05 with solid pins and 06 with 25mm insert.

First the sled.
Bone stock 05 mach-z o5 mapping reinstalled with 1 degree timing advance with only 16.5 gram pins added to the primary and 144 1.175 woodys.
But it has had a good going over in the chassie.

The day!
3000' of ice marked out in 1000' increments.
average temp -3.6c
bero 99.9
wind hitting the track from the left side of the sled 14KMH
humidaty 42%
I'd give you density but not avilable??

First was 3000'

It took a few runs to get things dialed in I started at clicker 4, three runs, 2nd faster then the first and 3rd falling off from second
1) 122.6
2) 124.8
3)123.4

Turned the clicker to 5 and the speed dropped to 123.6.

turned to 3 and the sled came up, the runs where.
1) 124.5
2)125.1
3) 124.6

At this point I was happy and turned to 2000'
I did 3 runs only.
1)118.0
2)118.8
3)118.7

The last thing to do was 1000' and this is what surprised me the most!
1)105.3
2)105.9
3)108.8

All speeds where on a Stalker radar gun.

2 weeks ago I tested with the 06 mapping the best I could get was 120.1 mph in more then 3000' and would only ran 104 in 1000'. the bero was at 101.9, temp was -4c and there was very little wind, humidity was 38% but again no air density.

Regardless of the air density with over 50+ runs the 06 mapping is not as fast on the top end as the 05, and with 144 studs,it is faster in 1000' and 2000' because I could hook it up.

As a side note, there was another sled there that has run on other days that I tested the the 06 mapping, and he ran 130.1.
Today with no changes to the same sled he ran 130.3.
so very simular conditions for testing.

So what ever you want to believe, there is a difference or there is not.
All I can say is I am glad I went back to 05 mapping.

Pray for snow and ride safe.

also tied 2 box's today and found that05 with updates plus.5 degree more timing and cold start update was faster (115mph) than stock 05 with only 1 degree timing advance (110mph) in about 1200-1500 feet.
was also running chuckies clutch kit and daltons 47/27 rear helix.
stock helix would run about 7600rpm (105mph) and daltons 7900rpm (115mph).
am going to try daltons brute arms and stock ramps with his helix next.
would really like to see 120"s!!!!!!!!!!
and not in 3000 plus feet, should be able to do this in 1500 feet?
also clicked down 1 click and no rpm change(5) then went down 2 clicks(4) and wouldn't rev over 7500 on lake and would rev to 700 rpm then clinb to 7500 on trail (real dog)
this seems to really sing at 7900 but would like to try 7750-7800???

I also got to test my 05 with original mapping re-installed this weekend against my brother in-laws 06. Before I would get him out of the hole and about 90 mph he would catch me and pull ahead 2 or 3 sleds and they would stay that way. Now when I get him out of the hole sometimes he never catchs me and if he does I pull away on the big end. Also raced a group of 5 or 6 other 06 Machs and they were not even in the race...... they turned around and left the lake. My machine definately works better with the original mapping

Squish.

Your going to like going back to 05.
my side note never stated what the sled was that ran 130.
all I will say was it was a AC with speed track and is lowered and lightened.

Hey squish,

Let me know how you make out with the 05 map. I'm calling Ingle's if you like the 05 as compared to the 06 map.

Thanks,

I was out on lake as well, 3 Rev 800's, 1 2001 Mach Z, and 1 2005 Mach Z. The three Rev 800's went 102-103, the 2001 Mach Z went 111, and the 2005 Mach Z went 117. Definately faster with '05 mapping installed. All speeds were GPS on slushy snow.

Sounds like it "sucks" to have an 06
hearing way to many guys going back to their original 05 maping and getting there top end speed back
does anybody know if there is going to be any recourse for us 06 guys?? Flagship!!!!
11-12 grand!!!! thing should flat out rock!!!! if this is in fact true on our 06's i'll be "edit for bad language" off!!!! come on BRP???? were you having that many warranty issues? or did
somebody "higher up" say you better slow em down or there will be lawsuits?? you know i finally shell over big ching for this supposed rocketship, and all beit it
rides awesome, handles awesom, looks awesome, pulls hard down low, middle, but
i don't want to go out and get beat on a 1000 by lesser cc sleds!!! i'll quit now but
i'm just friggin frustrated!! then to top it off there's no gosh darn cold or snow which only compounds matters.

If conditions are a go on thursday,I have rounded up 2 of my friends with mach's
and we are going to test some more things.

One is a 05 with 06 mapping
the other is a 05 with 05 reinstalled and .5 timing added.

All three of us have different clutching so we will be testing for 1000',2000'3000'
just to see the differences.

Clutching and different studding makes.

What about the 05 sled with the 06 map and timing advance?? Anyone know?
Versus an 05 with the 05 map and timing advance. That will be the true test comparing apples to apples Maybe its the timing advance that is getting it out front. Just a thought...sorry I had to bring this up but i would like to know. BRP says only the bottom was changed in the map well this test would tell if that is true.

Do you have the ability to check or swap the kits to find the best setup, that runs in each sled. And will you reveal the setups weights, ramps, springs, etc. Don't mean to be a pain, I'm just lookin for the best possible setup,I'm really tired of seein my buds 800 p-tek so close behind me.

There is a big difference between the advance curves in the 05 to the 06 so you would not be able to gain enough in some parts of the curve and would end up with to much in another part to make it worth while.

Floorman.

If I can get the guys out with me, I will post all results as well as the setups.

Thanks man, just trying to see what runs the best without spending my retirement. Like I said before I have some experience and all the tools and digital gram scale (very accurate we use it in testing water transmision). Just need a good starting point. thanks again
