I would cut the grip even with the bar and then push the hook in as far as it will go until it is flush. Later.

I have one question: How can i get the grip to be flush with the j-hook??
I had the same crappy grips on my 2002 800. I had to cut them off, just be careful when doing this, to not cut your handwarmers. I then drilled out the rivet, I had to buy a new set of grips. I went with standard Ski-Doo grips. You have to cut the closed end of the grip off. Be sure to take your time, and cut straight. Use a brand new razor blade.

Then put some soapy water in them, they will slide right on, but put the cut end of the new grip to the inside, this will make it look great, then just install the hooks. i wish I had a pic to show. But do this and it will look like the hooks were a factory option.

It takes about 5 minutes per side. Just write back if you have any questions.
Cya, Probably goin to the UP , Damorrow
