As I was searching for an oil leak I noticed a groove carved in my jackshaft going directly into crankcase. Is this carving there for balancing and if so it seems too close to the backside of crankcase seal. Would this cause a potential leak from crankcase seal? Everything in that area was wet from oil and I assumed it from fitting from bottom of oil tank but not sure . Any of you ever notice a groove like this on your sleds?
For some reason I can't post more than 2 pics. I hope these are good

I kinda thought it was for balancing but seems really close to crankcase. Only able to look through mirror so its hard to see how deep it is. It almost looks like groove is right where seal would be . Sled leaked a little while in trailer and now on garage floor while sitting so now that I think of it can't be crankcase leak. Can't see anything on these new sleds with everything packed in so tight. I miss my old 99 mxz. Thanks

The oil pump is one possibility.

I do believe it is the oil pump now. I actually was reading that thread and was hoping that "o" ring would fix leak but doesn't look like it did. I haven't tried tightening the 3 torx screws yet but kinda think it's a no fix either. New pump is 379ish and really hope i don't have to go that route but might have to.
