Can anyone help me understand what is needed to install tunnel protectors on my 2020 Gen4 Renegade? Can these protectors be installed without removing the track?
Is this something that can be done at home or would be better to have dealer install?
Thanks for any advice!

You will need a sturdy rivet gun and a strong grip. The install is simple and takes less than 10 mins if you have a way to crimp in the two pop rivets that hold it on.

I bought a pneumatic rivet gun from Harbor Freight it was like $70. But I’ve used it a lot and makes it much easier to install pop rivets.

SSCochrane. You may have been sent the wrong protectors. There are other threads where people are advised to get the wrong ones. Where the instructions are to remove the track...
A buddy has a Gen 4 and when he was sent the correct package, the install took less than an hour, super easy. Slides in from the back.

Update. I'm told that the new Gen 4 have protectors that no longer slide it. :-/ My buddies sled is a Gen 4 Skandic.

G4 protectors do not slide in. The older stuff did.

That is indeed a "tunnel protector" as well and I believe every sled has that one. Since the front part of the track doesnt travel up and down as much I guess it is there to prevent rubbing when the track is ballooning out when the throttle is pinned. I guess I dont understand why BRP sells the full length kit if all you really need is the back half only?

It depends on what stud pattern you're planning on running.

If you plan on doing the 96 down the middle where the track is pre-marked you can use the easy to install kit, takes 10 minutes tops.

If you're using any other pattern you'll need the take the suspension out and seat off kit that'll take you a few hours to install.

In either case, check instructions.brp.com with your part number for instructions.

Not sure of any great advantage. I have read that the studs can pull out of a single track easier.
So, in my mind if I pinch the track super tight with a washer and nut, then if the stud catches or wants to flex, the stud side could wiggle and possibly cut the track easier. Just guessing.
Now with a polymer taller washer, it might support the stud better and may flex a little when the studs first hook up, slightly reducing the chance of ripping the rubber track.
Might not mean anything, but just trying to find the best setup for me and not ruin the track.
