hygear suspension?

Ive been sitting back pondering what to do with my 06 revx's suspension. I guess I'm going to go with hygear, but I have a question for the people who have his stuff on a rev. Does your sled ride as soft as stock on small bumps? Also small studder bumps like the railroad tracks in old forge? I know based on peoples responses that it very good in big bumps, but I'm concerened about the small bumps at 20 to 50 mph. Thank-you for your honest opinion because this is alot of money to have them do my suspension compared to other shops.

I have HYGEAR Trail pro setup on my 2005 800x and I would say for sure it way better than stock setup all the way around. The problem with single rate springs is that they can only be setup one way, stiff or soft but not both. The dual spring setup has two springs one short and one long. The short spring works well in small bumps and the long spring will take over once the short spring compresses to the crossover ring and then longer spring will be used for bigger bumps. This is very effective for trail riding where sometimes the trails are smooth and many times they are rough. You need a dual spring setup to effectively handle both scenarios. Although no suspension can be optimum in EVERY situation HYGEAR's dual spring setup is the best yet for trail riding , INMHO. Also make sure to get his reservoir kit for center shock as this alone makes a huge difference in performance of SC-4.

The center shock in ANY rev is the most important because this is the one that you are sitting or standing directly above. Just about everyone that rides hard would agree that both SC-4 X packages from 2005 and 2006 were too soft especially in center shock position. The 2006 is definitely better than the 2005 but not by much. For this season HYGEAR also has the ability to add reservoir with adjustable compression dampening. Ross will also re-valve you shocks at no cost if tyou are not happy with first setup. Just be honest and tell him exactly how you ride. If you like to jump your sled off of 50' hills tell him that and if you like to just cruise the trails at 50 mph while sitting all the time, TELL him that also..He only can set up your shocks based on info you directly tell him as he does not ride with everybody..

Ditto to Revgod's excellent response. I only weigh 180 lbs but the trail pro setup was still too soft for my liking as I don't like to bottom when going big. Ross sent me new springs and revalves no charge. The way I have mine now (stiff dual rate springs similar to 440snoX) I wouldn't say it's as plush as stock over small stuff but I didn't want it that way anyhow. You might REALLY like his new triple rate stuff! I just put in his center shock reservoir kit last weekend so cannot comment on that yet but the ability to adjust compression damping per riding conditions is really appealing to me - I like to tinker anyway! Hygear is expensive but you get what you pay for. Tom White was pumping Carver the other day. I really respect Tom's opinions and I'm sure Mike does a great job but NO WAY does a single spring setup work as well over small AND large bumps like Ross' Hygear setup.

Have FUN!

PS - Ya know it STILL burns me to this day that BRP markets their "X" package sleds like they're race ready for Sno-X or Hill-X but the springs and shock valving are so weak even my grandma would find them LAME!

I've got a 06 RenegadeX and I was wondering roughly what a Hygear trail pro setup would cost...Thanks....The Judge.

That's cuz BRP is smart. They know 99% of the guys buying an X are buying it for the big "X" on the side and are fat posers that don't ride hard. They want the X, but want it to ride like a touring sled. Simple marketing. It works.

I own Hygear's 2006 gade800x test sled from last year, he did a nice job on it, you can email me & I will help you all I can with info on set ups, I've owned 4 revs & really am into riding aggressive. I need some specific questions to help you out, believe me i'm totally into helping fellow dooers. If you email me , i'll provide you with my phone number so you can ask me any question you want, i put 1000 miles on my gade well actually 850 Ross put the other 150 on , well him & his test people. If I can be of any help let me know, that goes to any other fellow dooer's looking to modify their sleds. Yes the stock X set-ups are too soft in my opinion, I was very dis-appointed after buying 2 X's that my 04 Hygear equipped Custom Axis 800 adrenaline handled bumps far better than both X's & I was able to ride both sleds on same rough conditions, same days
