Adjusting the waste gate rod in order to reach the correct amount of boost on certain tunes:

Our adjustment is for the Hurricane 205 & 220 tunes.

The 195 Hurricane tune does not require adjustment.

This is not a super easy job but with a little patience it can be done. Here are some tips for adjusting:

3 of the biggest issues when adjusting:

Location of wg rod. It's in a tight spot under the turbo and hard to reach or see.

Jam nut is located behind oil line and hard to access with a wrench.

WG rod is difficult to hold from turning while breaking the jam nut loose.

It is possible to adjust without removing the muffler and mid pipe but not as easy.

Once you have the parts below removed take a picture of the turbo/wg rod with your phone to get a good look at what you are working with.

The following parts need to be removed from the sled for wg adjustment.

Hood & Gauge Cluster....6 screws.

Inter cooler....1 bolt & both clamps

Inlet hose from inter cooler to turbo....1 clamp on turbo.

Muffler......2 springs, 1 bolt & 1 screw.

Mid pipe....3 bolts.

Removing the plastic vent on the front of the sled below the front bumper will allow a straight line of sight to the wg rod. (the vent just snaps into place)

Removing 1 screw on side panel closest to muffler allows the side panel to be pushed outward for more room to get the muffler out of the sled.

Once the above parts are removed the next step is to disconnect wg rod from turbo. Attempting to loosen wg jam nut while attached to the turbo can break the nipple that connects wg rod to turbo.

Here is a pic. of a simple tool that I made to hold the wg rod from turning when breaking the jam nut loose.

This tool also allows you to pull on the wg rod to expose the jam nut so it can be loosened. The tool also holds the wg rod from turning when loosening the jam nut.

Another way to access the jam nut is to gently charge the wg actuator with air. This will push the rod/nut past the oil line so it can be reached with a wrench. The safest way to charge the actuator is with a mighty vac hand pump at low psi. 7-8 lbs pressure will push the wg rod out far enough to access the jam nut.

Over charging the actuator will damage it.

*** Do not use your air compressor to charge the actuator.***

More to come.

I took the clip off my low miles 1 year old 900t and it was already rusted in half somehow, so there is that ????

1.5 turns wasn't enough for me. If you want to do it once and be done with it then buy one of these. Nice tool to have anyway.

Mityvac MITMV8500 Silverline Elite Automotive Vacuum Pump Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SQYUA/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_l.CuEbP0NFFFG

Set the crack pressure to 7psi. You should be good to go. It took more than 2 turns for me to get where I needed.

Here is a video on a cam am explaining how to use the mityvac with the 900t. Obviously a lot harder to do on the snowmobile, but otherwise identical. You only want to have to do it once.

I got a hurricane 205 tune, the check on the waste gate actuator, from the brp shop manual says 6.24 psi should give a movement of .039, and 8.27 psi should see a movement of .197 thou, controlled by the boost control valve, , is there a actual pressure check on the actuator to do, or is the stock pressure check what u should see. I see some doing 1-2 turns , is that to set to boost pressure . Thanks Chris, on the pm, want to see 7 psi on actuator

Got a pm from Chris, all good now , yes the tool would help , as the spring in the actuator has lots of production variables. Love the tune , crazy fast, and fuel economy is really good, did a run yeasterday, 135 miles and still have 2 bars on the fuel gauge,

You have Dave's tune so you would need a gap flasher. I think he charges around $500 for it. You might be able to find one used. I don't know if you have to pay a license fee if you buy a gap flasher used or not.

I use a power vision 3, which is $400, but it's not compatible with Dave's tune. It comes with its own tune or you can buy someone else's tunes like Whalen or aftermarket assasins for about $75 to $79.

Without a data logger you're just making a decent guess on what the sleds doing. Lots of advantages to having your own. Clearing codes, watching for knock, seeing small boost leaks that don't send codes.

X2 on the Pv3 data logger. Without it I would have never seen that I wasnt getting full throttle. Or that my waste gate was running 100 percent. And only 14psiboost after tune. After adjustments im seeing 15x pounds of boost. Its nice coming home, having a cold one and reviewing data logs.
That hardest part of adjusting the crack pressure is the dang jesus clip. Just buy an eclip if your going to do this.
