Hey guys thanks for all the help last year. Finally, I there is enough snow to putter around. but I can't get my sled to start!
I haven't even gotten a single pop or bang. I thought it might be the fuel, so I put sea foam down the plug holes but still nothing. I also removed my air filters to make sure its not those restricting airflow. I checked for spark, there is spark but im not sure if its enough. Ive never seen a week spark senario so idk if thats what I have. I have no idea what to try next. any ideas??? ('85 formula plus)
Thanks in advance,
Xavche

New plugs. Spray starting fluid down each plug hole. Try a few times. Once it pops hold throttle wide open. It'll probably run for a few seconds on the starting fluid then die. Pull plugs and repeat till it runs.

If it'll only run on the starting fluid. It mean you may have bad gas or it isnt getting gas. Siphon the tank and refill. Check carbs, lines, pump.

A no-start always starts with verifying spark and fuel. If you confirm both then a compression test is in order. If you are good for all 3 then skanky non-volatile fuel could be the problem. I've seen sleds that will run fine in the fall, but refuse to run when the first cold snap hits due to the poor fuel volatility of the old gas in the tank.

I also have an issue which might be correlated, occasionally my Kill switch, killcord and key wont shut off the ignition. I have to stop it by pulling the plug caps or shoving a glove in one of the carbs.
do you think this could be related?
Thanks

So, today I tried putting some of my dads chainsaw 40:1 premix and it started first pull. I did this a few times and it idled. I then drove it literally 3 feet and it ran out of gas  . ill get some more gas tomorrow and (hopefully) go for a ride.

SOD Is the new term used to describe what is going on with some of these sleds. Happened to a guy the other day, he said he tried everything and sled wouldn’t start. Finally realized he didn’t have the tether/key attached.

Stupid
Old
Drunk
Any one, or combination of the above makes you a SOD so keep your gaurd up!

Buddy asked if he could take my sled for a rip, I said sure. 15 minutes later he comes back with no sled. He said it just stopped running and couldn’t get it running again.
I went out and looked at it saw it was out of gas right away but thought I’d play with him and told him he blew it up. I said it was going to cost $1000 to fix it and it would be coming out of his pocket. He went home pretty bummed and as soon as he left I threw some gas in it and it fired right up.
took it for a rip and when I got back I sent him a video of it running and told him he only owes me $30 now. 😝
