Just wondering if any of you have stayed at Albany Lodge in Albany, Wyoming? One of my riding buddies went out there four wheeling a couple weeks ago and said it was great. Now he wants us all to go there for our yearly trip west.

The only reason i ask, is because im getting very mixed reviews online. Since there will be 9 of us going, we plan on reserving one of their houses for the end of January. Also, 4 or 5 of the members will be renting! Any info would help!

Stayed there 4-5 years ago in the hotel part. It was good, if we went back to the Snowy Mountains we would stay there again. Some people say it's a little bit of a ride to the good riding areas but we thought it was fine. When we went there weren't a lot of options for food and gas from Albany unless you rode to the other side of the mountains, unsure if that's changed since then. We didn't rent but they had everything needed for renting right there.

place is fine. Not the ritz, but adiquit. They have good food / drink, premium fuel, & rentals. About 35 miles to Laramie if have to have night life (if you call it that LOL). There is also food and fuel several other places out on trail but be sure you carry fuel to be safe. Have been going there summer & winter for years. There are a lot of trails along with mountain deep powder riding. The powder may not have a bottom in January unless they get warm up.

Note - I do not think they offer insurance on the rentals so be sure you check into yours before renting.

Myself and 7 other buds stayed in the brown house in Feb. this year. Nothing is super nice but truthfully it was a good place to stay. Cell service sucks and you can sometimes connect to the wifi. there is a lcd tv in the living room and they get satellite tv with a few channels, I recommend bringing a dvd player and some movies or some cards or dice because unless you like being in a bar all night there is no nightlife. the loft beds sucked but worked but no one was on the floor. Plenty of hot water and plenty of room to move around. It was very clean when we got there. The food was great, drinks were decent and staff was pretty good. We are planning on going back again this winter.

Id recommend brown house over trailer house out back. It was clean but still a trailer. Not sure on hotel rooms but who's there to hang in the rooms I wanted to ride and we did all day. If you want the Hilton stay in town and trailer everyday.

I've never stayed but eaten there regularly. Good food, nice place and if you're renting its about the only place to do it on the mountain.

It is a long ride to get to the good back country riding. You'll mostly be trail riding for the better part of the day. As for fuel I think the Rendezvous Lodge in Ryan Park and WyColo Lodge near Fox Park are your only options, again it's misty trail riding to get to either area.

In the Snowies I stay at Snowy Mountain Lodge and head straight for the back side through the Gap Lakes, or drop into Seven Fools Gulch or French Creek. Lots of area to play in on the backside and it's all pretty safe. French Creek can be very tough and I only recommend the best of the best go into there. Other wise I ride Alpine area and the many surrounding bowls.

I'll throw the sled in the back of my truck and go anywhere if the snow is good :).

Does Snowy Mountain Lodge have fuel?
He can sell you fuel in "emergency" situations .

I burn 110 in the turbo and 100LL in the 880 anyways. However, we pack as much fuel as we can wherever we go anyways. Plus Centennial is only a couple miles down the road and we go down there for dinner one of the nights too so it works out to pick up fuel if we need any.

I didn't know Centennial had 110 octane or 100LL available. I will have to let me turbo buddies know. We plan to be in the Snowy Range from Xmas to New Years weekend.

No no no . They don't have 110 or 100LL. The airport will sell you 100LL and I'm sure you can find 110 in town somewhere. Ben and SML will sell you 91 if you're in an emergency situation. He usually doesn't have too much on hand though.
