Has the Advex vs Oxygen helmet been discussed? Tried searching but didn’t find?

As stated is there a thread? If not has anyone tried both and can give feedback? Or point me towards the discussion if there was one. Thanks

Read my post from the next day explaining my errors!

Had the opportunity to try my Advex Radiant helmet yesterday.

Short answer, should have kept my Oxygen

Wanted the Advex as the O2 is a PITA when you want to have a drink or eat, and it was very tight to pull on. But once in place it was comfortable, quiet and as warm or cold as you wanted. No breath guard pushing up on your eyeglasses. In 5 yrs I had no issues, defects or had to replace a part, shield included.

Yesterday is was -12C, about 10F and I rode for 200+kms. Because of the built in ear cups/muffs you need a balaclava just like the O2 to slip the helmet over your ears. The neck and chin curtain flaps are easily closed, but just another thing you need to do.

I have a short windshield, and the wind blowing into the helmet was cold on my chin and lips. I thought perhaps I left a vent open, but no, the bottom 2 were closed as well as the chin vent. I suspect somehow wind gets past the red button used to open the helmet. My present balaclava leaves my entire face open, I've since ordered a KLIM balaclava to cover my chin and lips. I also confirmed the chin and neck flap were properly secured/closed.

At my first stop, about 30 minutes into the ride, I opened the helmet and a lot of condensation flowed out. I am using the breath guard, but I thought my breath would have exhaled out via the side vents, but now I think when the lower vents are closed this closes the side vent exhaust, not sure. At my second stop, a lunch break, I kept the helmet on in the open position of about 30 minutes, I couldn't get it to latch close as the mechanism obviously froze, a combination of dampness from my breath and the cold.

I kept the helmet plugged in the entire day and I did not remove it until the end of the day. When I did remove it, the entire inside of the mouth area was covered with thick ice, never had this happen with the O2.

No issue with the drop down sun shield being foggy after being in the stored position, it's a quiet helmet, but not as warm as the O2....and it's cold on the chin. You have no indication to know if the electrics are working unless you have a riding buddy who can confirm the rear light is on, unlike the O2 which allowed you to select the level of heat and a LED confirming electrical hook up.

The breath guard is removable, but I elected to use my contacts rather than my glasses as the breath guard pushed against the lower part of the eyeglasses making it uncomfortable. Also thought it was too cold to use the helmet without the breath guard. I will try another day without.

The helmet sun peak is a nice addition. I do wish you could open the visor independently of the modular section.

I did get the helmet during BRPs Black Friday sale so it doesn't hurt too much. But in the end should have kept the O2

Ok time for me to admit I made an error.

The helmet is NOT drafty, there is no wind blowing on my lips or chin.....it was me!

On todays ride I discovered the source of the draft, the magnetic chin flap was catching on the collar of my jacket and not fully closing the bottom opening.

I've learned to tilt my head back and ensure the chin flap properly engages with the neck curtain, then zipping up my jacket. Doing this solved the draft issue. Actually I rode all day with all 3 vents opened fully and it was comfortable. The open vents greatly reduced the amount of accumulated condensation that the mouth area of the helmet retained.

Much happier with my purchase today.
