I have a 1999 MXZ 600.
I am considering adding a riser to my handle bars
because it seems to be a very popular thing to.
It would obviously be a very good addition if you stand
a lot but are there any advantages when sitting?
I had an 99 600 and I added a 2 inch rise. It's great. I don't stand up ride, but it's nice to get the bars away from your knees and more in line with your shoulders. Easy to steer and maneuver. My wife rides the sled now and it's much easier for her to steer.
I wouldn't go much more than 2 if you are a sit down rider.
Powermad makes a great riser/spacer that is easily installed in 10 minutes for about 15 bucks.
I like to sit alot (frankly i am lazy) but now that i got the riser on mine i find myself standing more often... not that sitting is uncomfy cause believe me, i sit 80% of the time and stand probably 20% mostly because we ride the groomed trails and they lead from town to town with alot of flat stretches...
I really like my riser addition and would add a riser to any sled i ever will own....
