Hey guys,

I was lucky enough to pilot a prostock 1000 today in 660 ft ice drags and let me tell you they are awesome! What a rush, I don't really remember breathing. Now I gotta give guys credit who ride some big turbos and newer prostocks because it takes some ballzzz to pull the trigger, especially if you have never driven any sled over 200 hp previously, like myself.

Just a few specs and results.
- 1000 prostock Benoit build I believe years ago, around 265 hp.
- My best run was 5.9 seconds I believe, the run before felt better but didn't see the time so maybe a 5.8 happened, but I will say 5.9. (not sure how reliable the timers were)
- no radar gun present but mph in past races is usually 120+
- suspension set up for 190 lb rider, I'm 160, spun out twice to place fourth in class

Well as u can tell I'm still excited, but if you get a chance to try one, no doubt you will understand!

Yea I know there's more potential, I was more focused on staying alive, hanging on, and getting used to the sled and not really my et. It's not my sled but if I keep driving it each week, I would like to see a 5.6 this weekend and keep trying to improve.

Bad800, I'm not sure the potential of the 265hp build. I know the modern 1000's are pushing 280-85, stroker builds I'm sure more. Are these the ones running 5.2s? What do u think is an attainable goal, something to shoot for?

most don't realize what these high powered machines are like...fingers hanging on for dear life...arms feeling like they will be pulled off. i am always asked by my tuner "what was the rpm's?...what were the egt's reading?". all i can say is "@#%& if i know!!!...i didn't have time to look". thank God for tach and computer memory!!

Peter,

I thought I remember reading a topic last year, that a couple guys were making stroker builds with 285, If I remember right it was a guy with the name of iceman700 or something. I will try to find the post because now you have me doubting my memory, perhaps a few too many new years drinks.

Also I was talking to Landon Benoit last spring and he told me his new 1000 builds are making 280+ on dyno. Again I will try to find the post and see what I can find. I believe sleeper7 started the post and the topic was titled benoit power?

My motor was 264hp on Landons dyno, which we found to be very conservative. The sled went 145.950 in a 1000 feet. Last year it was updated and made 283hp on the same dyno. It promptly went out and ran 149mph in 1000ft. after we got the chassis right. We have not clutched or geared it as it took all last year to get the chassis right. So we will see what happens this year. Hoping for low 150's in 1000ft. Here are some data specs on the runs

21ft to roll it out and get throttle open
1.68 60ft
123mph 500ft
5.45 660
132mph 660
7.43 sec 1000ft
149mph 1000ft

Nice specs man! Benoit built your motor? Are you iceman700? I feel I was seeing the same pics of the same prostockers from you and iceman700? Anyways, looks like you got it flying. you must have that thing lightened up nicely. Now why the 21ft to roll it out? Guessing perhaps you have a shorter skid to carry more top speed on the big end, so you need to roll it out so it doesn't lift? I know I just smashed the gas! haha
