i m thinking of trying bikemans 27t top gear for my 05z. its 79 for the gear and around 80 for the summit tensioner. does this make a noticible difference in the trails. also do you have to have the speedo recalibrated for the gear change.

I think if you use a tensioner you not be able to use reverse safely!

I have not tried it

I don't know anything about the bikeman gear but I recently bought the Ski-doo 27 tooth top rear for a renegade 1000 and it doesn't fit the mach chain I had to buy the renegade chain and bottom gear as well.
You can use many different gear combos (BRP gears) you just need to purchase the appropriate pitch chain (Crank Shop) for them and a tensioner(BRP). And with the tensioner you can use reverse no problem. I
im trying to make this sled a rocket from corner to corner. due you think the 27t would be to much and cause traction problems. i have a 1.25 shotgun track with 144 1.325 megabites in it, and i am running a lightweight arm clutch set up. is there a gear combination that would give you more bottom end and midrange without needing a tensioner. can i change the chain size instead of running a tensioner?

I ran this set up all of last year. No problems. It woke up the midrange quite a bit, about the same top end. I'm running a ripsaw/144 studs.
does anyone have a list of part numbers for everything i need for the tensiomer?
It would be easier to get your dealer to look up and order the parts for the tensioner. There are 8 different parts, 9 in total that you will need, I could list the part #'s and if you or I get one wrong it will cause some frustration. Let the dealer doo it.
Get him/her to look up the Summit chain case for the parts needed.

One more thing…if you go with the silent chain and gears you will have to make/buy a spacer for the offset of the bottom gear.

Look up parts........print........take or fax to dealer
All I know is that I tried running 25/45 gears on the snow with a 78 pitch chain and the tensioner, and it was way slower after 500' than the stock gearing. I was running a 1.25 ripsaw with 144 1.325 studs and traction was not a problem (it never has been for me on that sled). The more gearing combos I tried, the more I came back to the stock setup...
For those that weren't aware....
25/45=1.80 ratio
27/49=1.81 ratio
29/49=1.69 ratio
I am also doing this. I just had my dealer order everything. I run a 1.75 with no studs up here and traction is no problem. I also got cudney domes and I am finally going to have the pipe mod done for this season.
