Just picked up a challenger extreme 162x16x2.5 3" pitch which will be replacing a 162x16x2.3 powdermax.

I currently have 19/45 and 9t 2.52" drivers.

Getting a set of 7t 3" drivers for the new track.

Debating what, if anything I should change with my gearing. 19/45 is 2.37 ratio, with the 7t drivers 19/45 is 2.56 ratio effectively(accounting for the smaller driver size) , and 21/45 is 2.31 ratio effectively.

I already have 19 and 21t gears, that is why I'm comparing. To me 2.56 seems very low, but concerned that 2.31 will be a bit tall for the added lug on a mostly stock 800r. Or I just throw another $30 at it an get a 20t gear which would get me at 2.43 which sounds about right.

Thoughts?

Ha, I was expecting the first two responses to be from sledsrock and eriebob. I was 1 for 2 i guess. I think I'll just buy the 20t and try both.

Anyone have a used 20t 15w they'd sell me?
