Get on and go! I had an 03 that my friend now has and it has been bulletproof, over 6000 mi and no problems, one blown belt when it was new and they covered it under warranty. KLOTZ oil all the way!
But if you have come here looking for bad news, I am sure you will get it. Its like the saying goes "you make 1 customer happy and no one will hear about it, you make 1 customer upset and everyone hears about it."
I believe all the bugs have been worked out of it by 06. The ring problem was corrected in 04. That 06 X has the new roller secondary.

It should be a ripper, gas it and go.

I only use BRP's synthetic oil. If you can afford it, it's the best you can get according to SnowTech. They said they even use it in their other brand sleds. It's made by Castrol for BRP. You'll want to run a couple quarts of mineral oil through you tank first though - to seat the rings properly. Then switch to the synthetic blend or full synthetic.

anyone try blue marble and i here some talk about clutch cover?
Remove the plactic clutch cover - it does nothing but hold heat in and dampen noise.

Try the "search", type in Blue Marble or Amsoil. They've been debated a thousand times before.
the plastic clutch cover will keep belt fragments away from your plastic pannels in the event of belt failure. it does more than hold in heat and dampen noise. i blew a belt in one of my vintage sleds one time, a string of the blown belt actualy grabbed the section of the aluminum belly pan just over the ski spindle and tore the belly pan apart.
My own opinion I use amsoil. But a guy should use one type and stick with it. BRP is good too. All the synthetic oil these days are pretty good. If you have an 06 you should be good to go. All the guys on here seem to know sleds... so get a pen and piece of paper out, class is in session

What did you ride for the last 10 years?

Congrads snipes, on your six hundy. When running your new sled for first 200 miles, very the throttle between 1\8 and 3\4 throttle it in short runs for awhile checking fluids, belt deflection, track, ect. This way you can monitor any bad outcome, and break in motor good. I know klotz first hand, my engine builder
and guys at klotz themselves said it has highest film strength of oils. I would use doo mineral or sythetic
to good stuff.

wow a little negative don't you think?

and why would yo buy a sled with so many problems...

with an outlook like that you are likely to be the one that gets the lemon!

I have a 06 MXZ 600sdi. Worked great. Excellent on fuel and oil. Used the BRP half and half. No problems last year. If you are solo riding and looking for a bit more out of your sled a Cudney clutch kit works great. Have not regretted the investment at all.

I think they made a running change on the 05 to fix the ring problems.....My 04 and the 'mid season' release early in 2005 also had ring problems....
i don't think i was being negative just wanting to know if those problems are corrected for this year that's all but thanks for your help viper.now i been riding yamaha for the last 10 years and a couple of cats.but i'm back to doo. had a bad 97 mxz 670 so i switched brands.so should the clutch cover stay on or off ?and hows the stock clutching on 06 600 sdi gade x?oh and any good tips for suspension set up i way about 220lbs thanks .

Congrats on the new sled. I bought an 06 Adrenaline 800.
I put 400+ miles on it last year. I hate the smell of Ski-doo
oil sooo in went Torco SSO! No problems yet. Just run an
Iso-Legd rated oil because it is a European standard an
boy they run the motor overheated for 3 hours and run
the oil ratio's as low as 150 to 1 !!! that's gas to oil!!
The motor cannot lose power or blow up to pass!!!
Any oil that meets this test has gotta be good. Klotz
is iso-legd rated. Just check carb boots, Exhaust bolts,
and doo the air box mod by Rev Barron. I did not remove
my plastic clutch cover just removed tool box and put about
a dozen holes in cover down by slit in the gull wing side cover
to allow a little extra air in the clutch area. Doo a search you
will find all these issuses and probably more, Good Luck!!

Youll love that sled. i bought an 06 600 sdi and i love it! I have a gade so you will probably see more top end than mine.
i 'm going with the klotz oil. but hows the stock clutching?
I cannot comment on somethings, as I own a 2005 800 151"summit but here is what I would do regardless of sled size and type..

Free stuff-
1) Remove that plastic clutch cover
2) Remove all the foam
3) Remove some of the unneeded heat shielding. If you thinks it's critical then apply some reflective tape.
4) Remove anything that looks useless?

Useful stuff-
1) Bar risers
2) Left hand throttle
3) Clutch kit
4) Add an exhaust can, probably loose about 5-8lbs, just depends

I have yet to see or hear of a sled that comes from the factory with perfect clutching, maybe close but not perfect. Also, for break in period I would just go buy a gallon of Doo oil and run that until it's gone. Your rings will be good and broke in by then and you can run whatever oil you want..

If you like to jump a lot look into getting some factory running board stiffeners as they are a bit weak and it's best to have that stuff on there when everything is perfect.

Most importantly after it's broke in?. Ride it like you stole it cuz
