Cheap I mean like a grand or two and needs a decent rebuild
So what is the KBB price for a 78-80. A grand seems high right....I mean they should be selling for $250.00 to $500.00

It's not we don't like your jokes. It's you are not funny and have added nothing positive to this thread.

And then argue when you think some thing should be "cheeper" then what the market dictates.

You get what you pay for. And how much is your time worth? I have over 100 hours in a restoration of an elite...and then you add in paint and parts...

Nothing like buying something for 1K and putting 5k in it.....plus your time

Or stop being cheep ....buy something quality for more then the "market value" and enjoy it

Just my .02 but what do I know about elites anyways

Nothing to add.......Well when you have Preacher over there saying yea my ****s worth 20K and probably more.... Then I post time and time again Elites selling for 10.5K , 14K, I think that custom painted one went for $15.5k..... This just PROVES you guys are WRONG! But hey what do I know

Since you called me out I guess I have to respond. You really don't add anything to the discussion . For the record I said I would sell my Elite for $19,000.00 and yesterday when a gentlemen from Connecticut saw it he bought it for ...........$19,000.00. The Elites that sold for $10,500 was missing a door and the rear bumper. Those parts are not available so that is a reasonable price but certainly not the average selling price. The one that sold for 14,000 had more miles but it was sold by someone who did not understand the value and he left about $2500 on the table.the bottom line is that if you do find an elite (I am talking about the earlier models) for a thousand dollars you will have to add at least 100 hours of your time and labor plus materials. What you don't undrstand is that you are going to pay one way or another. I don't think that you actually have the passion for the Elite that many of us here do but who knows maybe you will suprise us but I doubt that will happen. You finished your post with the statement" this just proves you guys are wrong but hey what do I know" I guess you finished your post with a very truthful statement. You don't know

Yea people just leave money on the table... When have you ever bought something and the person was like Hey let me reduce the price since I'm just such a nice guy... NEVER. That NEVER happens. So basically it sold for less then your astronomical price and you have no way to justify it....... They dont sell for 20K they sell closer to the KBB

prices.

And Yes someday I will find an Elite in my price range and restore it. I dont mind putting in a few hundred hour as that's the fun of it. Probably have more fun restoring it then driving it.

Can you guys please just drop the "what they are worth" argument?

It's clear you're not going to agree. Move on...

I don't think that I will be buying another Elite since my wife really can't ride much anymore . Also I doubt I would ever find one like the one I just sold. I know I will miss it because they are a truely remarkable machine . Many of you that have been on the Elite forum have become like family and I want to thank you for the time that you have invested to make this a great forum. For those that don't own one yet I hope you find one and then I think you will understand why we are so impressed with the Ski-Doo Elite ,no mater which model or year. I will check in occasionally so keep up the great work, Enjoy the ride, Preacher

I guess you must have missed the part where I wrote that I just sold my Elite for $19,000.00. News flash $19,000.00 is $9,000.00 more than KBB.the Elite on EBay may not sell for $21,000.00 but it will sell for closer to that number than KBB. Maybe you are misunderstanding what I said. I know that Elites with parts missing like doors and rear bumpers will sell for $10,000.00 but I am talking about low milage mint condition Elites. The prices will vary greatly depending on millage and condition . You were the one calling me and the guy on EBay "dreamers" remember?I told you that my asking price was $19,000.00 and that is the price that I sold it I for. I hope you do find your Elite some day, they are a blast but until then, give your expert opinion on prices a break.

right. but you've been trying to sell it for like 2 years man..... i coulda sold it for less invested the money and made more then the difference by now.

Once again you do not know what you are talking about. I did not even advertise the sale of this Elite. The only reason that I sold it is that my wife cannot ride much any more. I did not list it on EBay or craigslist. If I have been trying to sell it for 2 years don't you think I would have listed it . It's not even listed in the classifieds on Doo-talk. Up until this year we were using the Elite so I mentioned the price that I would sell it on a post here a few months ago and you called me a dreamer , remember? Even when you are proven wrong you try to sell us the nonsense that you could sell the Elite for less and invest that and in 2 years make more. if you were that good of an investor you would already have an Elite and you wouldn't be crying about how expensive they are. You are nothing but a troll and I am done with you. ignore feature activated. I am going to miss reading your brilliant posts
