Going to put EGT gauge on the sled and was wondering what is the preferred style of probes, weld on or clamp on? Not real fimilar with the available room on the Rev 800 (don't have the sled yet) as to which would work best. Any information/pictures would be appreciated.
Thank you

SkidooSteve posted some pics of his that were welded on just recently. Welding is the best, but I don't believe it is a necessity. Let me know if your looking for a gauge, we have the new Koso gauge and Digitron units.

I have mine clamped on...will try and get pics...had to take off the heatshield ont eh Y pipe...but now that I have them on, CANNOT live without them...REAL bighelp on sledding and dialing in sled....
If you use the clamp ons, you can re-use the heat shields, it actually looks really clean. I ran them that way last year. This year I got weld ons and am ceramic coating the y-pipe. Just a warning, if you put them where they're reccomended to go, you'll have to pull the RAVE valves off to get the probes in, at least I had too.

Here's a pic with the heat shields...

Thanks for the responses.
Looks like if you're going to ceramic coat your y-pipe you will want the weld on type.

Nikolai, why couldn't you just angle the probes so that you would not have to take the raves off?

That's a good question and one I couldn't answer. Would have made things alot easier, lol.
would the egt probe by a dootalker here work on a 2006 mxzx 600 facotry mod??? just curious as i think it would be a good investment
Sorry, don't mean to steal your post, but wondering what EGT gauges and probes everbody is running. Looking for something to mount in next to tach, circular gauge.
Need advice from the dootalkers.
Thanks
I like the Racepak Avenger 1. It's smaller, has two heat inputs, tach, high level settings and warning alarm. 6 minutes of record playback too.

EGT clicky

what kind of a egt kit would best suite me for what i need it for?? i only need the temp that i am running at can some one point me in the right direction??? thanks
You guys got me thinkin about getting an EGT gauge now. I get the general idea, hotter is leaner and all, but what kind of temps are ideal? What kind of temps are danger zone? Burn down?
Aim for 1250 and don't go over 1300. My .02 and it hasn't let me down yet.
