I'm having kind of a dilema here... I don't know which clutch kit to buy, I've heard good things about both Dynamo Joe and Cudney Racing Kits. I have an '06 800 X. I would like to know which one will perform better and which one will last the longest. Has anyone Tried both? Please help...

You need to do a search. Then ask specific questions.

Maybe it is as simple as where you live and how close you are to each of them.. ...and what it costs for shipping to get it too you..

They will probably both work for you..
I was just wondering if any one has lined them up in the same sled and ran them down the track at 500 ft, or if any has had problems yet with either, I'm mostly lookly for reliability. Shipping is not an issue.. I've read great reviews about both on dootalk. Just looking for opinions. Thanks.

The two kits are very, very similar. I went with the Cudney kit because they had a kit especially made for the renegade and it was more of what I wanted. I am sure that dynamic joe has one to, but for the renegade I didn't hear as much about it. I don't think that you would see a difference in the sleds if you lined two sleds that are exact just with cudney kit, or d.J. kit. I think that they are to close of kits to make a difference

Both are great members of dootalk. Both do a lot of research and testing. Very similar pricing, also Cudney is great to talk to on the phone will help you with everything. D.J. I am sure is the same way (although I have not bought from him before). He has a lot of good reading that the web that I would recommend that you read before you try to install a kit.

I wasn't trying to be a dick when I first replied I just didn't think that you had looked around alot. But above you said that you have look through some reviews, so sorry if I came across wrong.

Hope that this makes you a little more scattered brain when you are trying to pick out a kit,
Ryan

Edit: Poor post on my part. I have experience with the Cudney kit. I'll leave it at that, of which I should have the first time I posted. My apologies to anyone that took my initial post as demeaning, it was not meant to be.
I've been using kits from Bill for years, ran one in my 06 800X last year. If you want a good corner to corner trail set up you cannot go wrong with Bill's kit.

This year I'm going to give the DJ kit a shot, Joe has been very informative answering questions and I'm sure th kit is as good as advertised.

I doubt you can go wrong wither way.
Have the DJ kit i cannot say enough good things about it. You will really have no problems with this kit, easy to install, easy to tune, and a noticable difference. Also Joe stands behind his products. Nothing against the Cudney kit but i did the research and went with the DJ Kit.
I went with the cudney kit. Good reviews, good service, free shipping (at the time) and the best part of it for me was hes in canada so no extra border BS!
Thanks for all the replies, this is a very difficult decision ($350 or so worth).. The price is very similar too.. I'm just looking for an edge to my competition (friends with similar revs). With the same reliability as stock.
I was told today that cudney kit is all top end, DJ's is all midrange not much top end. I am probably goign to be putting DJ's on my sled but I woudlnt want to if it would slow it down on top. I have a 2005 800 X is anyone else running DJ's kti in theres, did you lost top end or stay the same?
I got to run Joe's roller setup in my '06 800x last season(limited availability). Very good improvement over stock. It works very well on or off the trail. Corner to corner is a grin! Pulls very hard from bottom to topend. I ran stock setup most of the season and it has some pitfalls and somewhat sluggish at times, I'm picky of my clutching! This will take care those ills. I ran his S8X in my '03 80 and that was a great improvement over stock setup. You are very connected to the flipper and it puts more confidence into your ride. This roller setup is all that but smoother due to the roller. Very hi quality components from Dalton, almost too pretty to put in! You'd like it! Any questions feel free to ask.

My father has a cudney kit in his 800ho and I have a DJ kit in my 800ho, both are great kits but I like the DJ kit better because it has a ton of back shift and fits my riding style better.

which kit is faster?

Where we ride you rarely see speeds over 85mph, my sled with the dj kit would consistantly beat my father's with the cudney kit. Top end it might be different though. Both our sleds were piped and geared the same.

I've never had my sled over 95mph so I couldn't tell you. It pulls hard though, lots of fun in the twisty trails and it makes lofting the front end over bumps a blast.

I like to add; I read comments here and there over the years of all clutch kit vendors not getting top end. If a person say "lack of top end" then ask why they did not get top end. Why do other people get top end mph, is someone doing something wrong with the tuning exercise?

If having problems with a clutch kit then it is up to the customer to contact the builder/supplier and review the application.
If you have problem with kit and unsatisfied and don't contact builder - the customer has nothing to say.
Now someone say "lack of top end" You can ask "did you contact the builder?" then if they say yes they did, then you yourself can pick up the phone and call the vendor to check.

As far as Im concerned the guy who told you that is misinforming people either maliciously or he never took the avenue given to find proper tune. There are plenty of guys who use my kits in speed run and get the mid 100 teens. Now ask, what are they doing "right".
What I get a kick out of is a tuner buys a vendor's kit themselves or surreptitiously aquires one, then run it, get unsatisfaction and character assassinate the builder or product, when they did not contact the builder.

Now they posture like they are unhappy savvy tuner,
but why did they buy a kit if they are so savvy?

What happens? My opinion...."Nothing" There is no forward movement for learning when communication is not initiated.

School's in session...
If there is something wrong with the kit, then contact the builder for coaching advice.
If you don't correspond with the builder..
....well, its your money.
School's out

Why limit yourself to just them, Big John at sledhead racing has good kit also and very good reputation. Personally I just bought Joeys kit ,But I have done business with Cudney and Big John also and have been very happy. I have a sled head racing kit that I took out of a 600 rev that a friend traded and that was a great runner. I believe whoever stated that Joeys kit did not have as was much topend misinformed and not tuned in properly.
