I've got an 03 Skandic SUV that I bought 3 years ago. It hasn't been started since I bought it and I want to get it going for this coming winter. Oilburner had an excellent suggestion in that I should clean the carbs. Once that is done I'd like to drain the tank. The only fuel line I could see comes through the firewall behind the battery. Do I use this to siphon as much gas as possible out of the tank or is there a drain somewhere or some other way you would go about it.
Thanks,
Pete

If this diagram is correct, than no there is no drain. You could also siphon most of the fuel out with a bigger fuel line through the fuel cap then drain the small bit left through the existing fuel line.

Pull the tank and flip it over to drain it.

You're gonna want to change every fuel line on that thing, and having the tank out the way will make it easier. Don't buy the cheapest line you can get.

While you're at it, extend those battery cables and relocate the battery under the seat where it belongs (and where it's easier to boost and easier to install/remove). You can fit the wires under the center groove under the tank.

If you insist on draining it in place you can take an old piece of any kind of hose and cut a slit near the end. Stick a blowgun into the slit and tape the handle so it's blowing out. This creates a suction at the other end of the hose. You can then safely vacuum out the last bit of gas that can't be syphoned. Careful where you point the "blowing" end of the hose because you'll be spraying vaporized fuel!

The tank comes out in 2 minutes in these sleds. The plastic box under the seat comes out easily (it slides out of the interlocking tabs) and then you can pull the tank out. Often times the bolts are missing and the tank can be removed without tools. I'd pull the tank so you can really check all the hoses etc.
