Custom Maps for Garmin

Are you disappointed in the limited number of saved tracks you can store and use on your Garmin GPSr? Most Garmins allow 20 (or less) with 500 (or less) trackpoints each. Solution? Make maps from your tracks..plus add your own personal map elements if you wish.

I have created a video demo (plays in Windows Media Player) showing how to make custom maps from track files PLUS an installer. Now you can install your maps to Mapsource and pick them from the drop down menu just like you do with Topo USA...City Select..US Roads & Rec etc. Select just your custom map or combine it with other Garmin detailed maps and upload them to your GPSr. The map created is transparent so your base map or any detailed maps will show through.

I put everything you need to do this exercise in a zip file...the Inno script for creating the installer...the file for creating the preview map...the video showing how to do it...line by line text instructions. To keep the demo brief the track used is small and only has one waypoint. After you have gone through the demo you will be able to create your own maps from your track files.

Hi RWS,

I had a look at your demo when you first posted it and thought I'd find a use for it eventually.

Wll I have and it's to create a an outline of a local nature preserve that's off limits to snowmobiles.

Unfortunately, your links and demos in the post are not working. Any chance you can get this running again.
