If they try to limit/block just where the cards will work and just how the money can be spent. I'm sure the ACLU, Amnesty International and some Illegal Immigrant support groups in this country will protest and sue. Despite the programs going down the toilet due to high levels of abuse/fraud therefore causing truly needy/deserving people to lose their "helping hand" from the State while putting more and more taxpayers into poverty. It's the "jobs" of people in these groups to speak out for and protect the "rights" of the people whom they consider to be "victims" in this world. I believe they are the result of an enabling government and culture that's made abuses like this not only possible but also very acceptable. Almost the "norm" so to speak.

With groups like these, a give/spend (other people's money) till it hurts mentality in government, unenforced immigration laws, and unchecked/unsustainable "entitlement" programs, "the writing is on the wall". By the way, any of you guys read spanish?

Sounds like a most upsetting loophole for those who would take advantage of the system. It would also appear to me that the Republican Governor of California is all over the said abuses.

So now Dootalk rightwingers, flame on and raise high holy hell about a problem that is obvious and so reprehensible that one of your own has apparently promised to address the issue.

Rah, rah, rah!!!!!!!

Sandinistas, Breshnev, Chappaquiddick, etc, etc.

What is it that we are so irritated about that is so different than the past?? Abuses like this are so egregious that they will work themselves out. Just like the food stamp system of the past.

There is accountability, you just have to look for it.

Again. rah, rah, rah,

Just how long does that take? Till the money runs out or till someone speaks out? I for one prefer the later. There are far too many people in this country who will attack/criticize you for pointing out or even voicing your dissapproval against such abuses. Everything is legal till caught. Once caught, just who is it that actually deserves to be called "the victim"? There are far too many that don't want things to change in this country. I for one want alot of things to change. But I don't have my hopes up, not yet anyhow.

My point is, that there is and always has been so many of these abuses that I hardly feel it necessary to say "Yea me too" when the governor of California is obviously on the case. The wrong here is so obvious that the "rah, rah, rah" is not productive but rather the mere venting of displeasure.

Expending my energy on the productive,

There are a lot of people who think things will take care of themselves. That is why so many things DON'T get taken care of.

When we become so lax and quit voicing our disapproval, the country is gone.

The powers that be are making it more and more impossible to voice your disconnent by making minorities have so much power that the majority has lost their voice.

When you quit making statements, they win.

In case some of you haven't noticed....the illegals are taking over this country. They have more rights and make more money than I do as a lifetime, tax paying citizen.

I may be the bad guy here, but I am tired of footing the bill for someone else to sit on their duff all day at a casino when I have to work to make that possible for them.

I can agree with you fully on this. However, voicing one's disapproval on "somewebsite.com" seems to be far from effective in making a difference in the problem. I suppose the success can be viewed in the spreading of information to others who don't know what is going on. I know that I'm going to close my web browser, go to work, and never return to this thread which will lead to me forgetting it entirely - and I'm sure many others will do the same. It's just not an effective forum for the cause.

I agree 100% with that; however, I don't just voice that view here.

I talk about it here, but I am also involved with local petitions, local primaries, fund raising and caucases. I also vote on every election we have here.

Talking about it here is a vent, voting is a voice.

Ok I lied, I came back
I like your posts, couldn't keep myself away. I had an idea just going on your character that you'd be involved with a real "voice" - not just pumping the keys. You can usually tell the difference between a keyboard warrior and a man of action

I would not call it an argument, but more of a civil discussion.

I deal with people daily who tell me that they want to argue with me over Medical bills. I always say, "why don't we discuss it instead "

When talking to one , it might be also called verbal Judo. A skill honed with age and practice.

And for the record, I have been involved with local and national causes for more than thirty-five years. I have voted both major parties and third parties. I vote for the person I see as representing what I feel is best for the country as a whole while still staying true to our founding fathers ideals ( upholding the Constitution, Bill of Rights, ect ) If one is not involved ( voting , ect ) then in my opinion, you have no right to complain.
Regards, Pat
