Clutching question

244 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  grover
Hey guys , I have a completly stock 04 mxzx 800ho and at WOT it's at 8350rpm wich is a little high. So I'm going to buy some weights to add to the pin (of the lever) from BRP racing (to lower the top RPM without lowering the engaging rpm of the primary) and I'm wondering if anyone has some sort of chart of how many grams cuts how many rpm. Any input would be appreciated Thanks

I would say forget the weights and just order a clutch kit. If you are buying weights you might as well just get a proper kit that will not only let you take care of your overrev but will give you alot more performance at all speeds. Just my opinion.

Great advice IMHO.

You failed to mention which setting your clickers are on. Each # changes the RPMs by 200. Have you checked your belt deflection, this can also effect your RPMs. With a properly set-up stock sled you should not need to adjust pin weights.
Also make sure to check your tach calibration. Usually about 1g per 100rpm's and as mentioned about your "clicker" settings.
