I have a 2002 renegade 700.I am dooing this to inform many people who
send EMAILS about noises in chain case.I had 1000 miles on sled second
year of ownership,changed gearcase lube twice,maybe three times.
Pulled cover and noticed wear mark on cover from the head of the screw
that holds tensioner bearing,SCREW LOOSE.I retightend and reassemmbled.
300 miles same noise tore apart same screw.this time locktite.Last weekend
noise 3900miles tore down same screw LOCKTITE.Has this happened to any
else.Just my two cents worth. BY THE WAY .FINGER TITE ON TENSIONER.

was having the same noises and eventually the chain came off and ruined both my gears and the chain.

I thouhgt i would put this on here.To many people just change gear lube.
I think every 1000 or so im going to pull cover and inspect case area.
Pretty easy to DOO.I also like the idea of turning secondary counter
clockwise,Then go finger tight on adjuster.

I have a mark on the inside of my cover, I dont know as if i head noises. I alos got a mbrb can and cant hear anything. Latly i have been getting alot of metal shavings inside my chaincase. gears and chain look fine.
not sure where it is comming from?

Pull cover DOORACER put allen wrench on screw.I think mine was going in
and out while riding.Visualy looked fine.

net of dipstick.

I noticed the same thing last summer when I was tuning for the water races it was loose every time I changed gears until I cranked it down really tight and I havent had a problem since that I know of. I'm thinking i should pop off my cover and take a look cause I could imagine what it could do if it came off at 100 mph. thanks for the insight I thought this was an isolated problem

I change the oil regularly and always pull the cover too. More times than not, the screw is loose. I pointed this out awhile ago, to someone who wanted to learn how to change their chaincase oil. Someone asked if this had happened to anyone else. Question answered.
