Certain LinQ accessories not fitting!!!!!

This is my first sled with a track longer than 129". One thing I was excited for is the extra LinQ location. I have the stackable fuel caddy, my older short bag(10+3L) and the newer sport bag.

So I saw the new(for '22) 10L modular cargo box, Part #715005494 and thought that would be nice to use in 2nd location behind fuel caddy, then stack my 2nd luggage bag on top for longer tours. I saw the modular box online before buying it and saw that the bottom was basically flat, I felt it would NOT FIT due to the tail light shroud, and then saw the new online accessory brochure, and saw that BRP says that this will fit! See below image:

After seeing this chart, I was excited and bought the modular cargo box. Well today i actually tried to install it and IT DOES NOT FIT!

Alone in second location, it wont go down and hits the tail light shroud as I thought it would, but BRP says it fits. Also, i then tried to fit the fuel caddy on with the new cargo box, and NO WAY will these fit next to eachother. What am I missing? BRP did you totally screw up with this chart? How many others bought this and cannot make them fit?

I realize I can make shims or buy those ugly BRP shims, but it still would not fit behind fuel caddy anyway.

Also, even in the first location...the cargo box presses hard against the battery cover, really is like whoever designed this got all the measurements wrong! It could have been smaller on front side(to not press against battery cover) and the rear/bottom could have angled up just a touch sooner and it would have cleared the tail light....and if it was supposed to fit with fuel caddy side by side then it needs to be a fair amount smaller!

Some pics....

Yeah can make some shims, and I may work on something. But just had to post as I have never seen BRP be wrong, and way way wrong on this.

Yes, took for a rip and throttle is AWESOME! Need to ride lots more, but for the short rip it feels as close to my 850 throttle as it could!

I just filled my new (picked up today with my sleds) fuel caddy and by the time I got it home, it had leaked like mad. When removing the cap, I found the top of the threaded inlet looks like it was cut off with a chainsaw. There is no way the gasket would seal to such a rough surface. I know this doesn't relate to your issue but just commiserating about poor fit and finish. I'm pretty irritated as a round trip to my dealer is 3 hours...

MY fuel caddy has been perfect, i was shocked the pounding that takes and no leaks, also how nice the shut off valve spout is. I would be sure to get yours returned for a good one.

One tip, always loosen cap at end of season or if brought inside warm area, as they will leak or collapse, seen both.

I leave cap loose on all fuel cans when not in motion.

Looks like someone really screwed the pooch on that SMH. The same outfit designed it as the tow mirrors on the GM pickups on the GMT800s (tilted in @ the top)? That's why I would never try to make brackets for someone without seeing the accessories & the sled to get measurements.

Another...

This was also a problem in the 2021 catalog. I bought the deep snow pro bag to go behind my stackable fuel caddy on my 2021 Renegade XRS. I wanted this for the same reasons as you but it does not fit. I estimate needing to raise the LinQ adapters about 3/4" for it to work with my bag.

Jeepers creepers - why don't you just slot the **** out of the holes to make everything fit like you did on the battery cover and call it good! :coffee:
Merry Christmas and thanks for the heads up...

You guys know me, I mod everything. I am very in tune with these LinQ accessories as I made them work on my Winder, and that was a 129". This is why I pay close attention to the bottom shape. I should have known better when I saw the bottom of cargo box in pics, that it was too flat! But BRP SAYS IT FITS!!!! So when i saw that chart I was like, COOL BRP say it works!

So you're missing the point of this thread. Cant I mod it to make it work? Sure, I can mod anything to make it fit alone on 2nd position, however it still wont fit together behind the fuel caddy, so for me its basically not usable how BRP says it is. That is the POINT im making.

Dan I bought this box for my renegade as well. I have the same experience, it works in the front brackets (but it just contacts the battery cover) but does not work in the rear brackets due to the tail light cover as you have posted. I will be using it in the front brackets. I had the trail seat bag last year which worked well but I do like the hard 10L case more. I too bought it because it was listed as a sled accessory. It looks like it will work out for me anyway.

Interesting...that caddy is pretty heavy when full, Im not sure how well the cargo box will hold up underneath??

I will try that fitment as a test, since I can't return the cargo box..lol

I guess i would not be able to take my 2 bags this way, unless i stack all 3 on position one. lol

Dan this was a call out on Facebook just passing the into on

This is a message for RockerDan, I think the reason it doesn't fit behind the your fuel caddy is because it's the stackable one, they are saying it will fit behind fuel caddy. Your is stackable fuel caddy. If anyone knows Dan please pass on. I could be wrong but I think it's in the wording. PS It does look too flat on the bottom. I'm referring to his video on u tube.

Thanks Andrew, appreciate the pass-along.

I hear what he is saying, and did re-read that chart a few times, along with the description of all caddys. And none of them are described differently. And Im not so sure any of the other caddys will fit in this manner, but we will be testing as Dano has the other smaller caddy in black, so we can test that with the cargo box behind it as described. BRP should have said on the chart specifically if it only works with smaller caddy, but they don't say that at all.

I think the stackable caddy is by far the most popular too, so I can see many people wanting to do same as I wanted and finding out the hard way(after buying it) that it wont fit as described.

I have that bag that’s on the rear of your sled and it’s not very weather tight , I always end up with snow in it every time I ride .
I ended putting stuff in zip lock bags to keep everything dry. The older bag on your gas caddy is way more weather proof and a all round better design.

I tried a few more things.....

Found out, yes the modular cargo box will fit better when turned around backwards(only in position 1) with latch closures toward front and the LinQ latch on right side as it normally would be. In this direction at position 1, it does not touch the battery cover at all. So this is one glimmer of positivity, I could use it like this on its own, or with a bag on top or behind.

However I'm not so sure I would feel confident stacking my 4gal fuel caddy on top of the cargo box, as the weight will be a lot and be very top heavy. There is a warning label on the box, which says 22lb max & 36cm max height, and top should be lighter than bottom of the stack.

I would even be able to stack a bag on very top, but this would likely not be very wise...

Some pics of what Im talking about below.
