I am trying to find a carburetor that will eliminate the HAC "high altitude compensator" on my 2002 summit 500 fan cool. It has a cable choke set up not a primer. I found one on ebay that I think will fit but I do not know enough about snowmachine to make a decision. Any help on what carb would work for that sled and totally eliminate the HAC would be awesome. the OEM Specs say VM34-578.

I found this carb on ebay, would this work for a replacement and eliminate the HAC.

i am having trouble finding a stock mxz carb, and i don't really want to pay oem prices for one, was just hoping that maybe the replacement carb below would work. Ive been looking all over trying to find a mxz carb but no luck.

i looked at that one on ebay and its not the same as the mxz's specs. I just have no clue what all these numbers mean, but i don't want to get something that wont work, is there anywhere that sells aftermarket carbs that match the mxz 500f stock carb? im only running at sealevel most the time.

its main jet is 330

pilot jet is 30

needle jet is 159 q-2

jet needs is 6dh2

Summit with HAC runs larger jets because the HAC controls the fuel/air mixture for the whole range. Which is why when the HAC goes out, it usually goes flat and runs the machine rich and floods out easy on starting.

MXZ carbs for the same motor are identical except they don't have the HAC pre-installed. Note that HAC can be added to the MXZ, Tourings, and Skandics. If you look at the parts list for those machines, usually at the bottom of the carb parts list it will say "HAC (optional)"

A friend was a long distance racer and had HAC on his MXZ.

Bear is suggesting that you KEEP your carb and simply delete the HAC , rejet to the specs he suggested . :wink_old:

the carbs are from a 440, and I don't know how to do the jetting and we don't have any snowmachine mechanics around, live in a small village.

Your 02 Summit 500F should have 240 main jets a 159 P-8 needle jet and a 70 pilot jet and the needle is 6AFY5............the 02 MXZ/Grand Touring/Legend 500F uses 210 main jets a 159 P-4 needle jet a 40 pilot and the needle is 6AFY5-4.

Like it was said, you just need to get the right jets and put them in your carbs after doing the HAC delete like the post TheBearAK posted above.
